Full LMS calendar...

Infoscourse confirmed the full LMS calendar (ALMS, LMES and JLMS) for 2006.

Another LMS serie could be created in... China, in 2007.

And Le Mans will host a DTM race in 2006.

I will believe it when I see it. There is hardly a single car in the whole of China that can race in the LMS today.

That would be a bit daft, when you could just have a combined series for that part of the world (Japan, China, Malaysia, Australia).

The only other regions I could think of would be South America (Brazil, Argentinia & Mexico) or the Middle East & Africa (Turkey, UAE, Bahrain & South Africa), but again there ain't exactly a lot of cars in those regions.

Can anyone else see a 'World Championship' on the horizon?

The best events in the US, Europe, Australasia and of course LM itself all counting to a Global series?

Jase you are right I can real see there being a World Sports Car Championship run to Le Mans rules happening, maybe not in 2007 but certainly in 2008 when Audi, Peugoet and Porsche are back.

I have been going on about for the last 3 or 4 years, the championship if it happens will be made up of Sebring, PLM, a race in Japan, and 2 or 3 of the LMS races, so each of the race would be still be part of there regional series, but they would also be part of the world championship.

There's a good chance of some type of World Series happening once the regional series can attract decent grids of there own.

The LMES and ALMS are already there, and I can see Japan being in that position given time.

Sebring
Spa
Donington
Nurburgring
Fuji
Suzuka
PLM
Laguna

Problem is budget. Teams in the US don't race outside the US often. Teams from Europe don't race outside Europe often.

If you're going to make it a World Series the costs will go up big time and many teams will drop out again.
The idea of several regional series with 1 major event where all top teams come together (LM24) sounds more likely.

What about a engine WM. Audi, Peugeot, ... with there own cars (they have enough money) and the others are working together, maybe Intersport in ALMS and Kruse (yes, only the red car) in LMS as example with AER engine???
Or only take the result of the best of every different engine.

A "modern" Endurance Triple Crown?
Sebring, LM, Fuji?

You could also avoid the "FIA title" WC.

I agree, the last thing we want is for costs to escalate to levels similar to F1 and as a result start to lose the Privateer/Independant teams which seems increasingly to be the case with F1 at the moment.

That said however, I still think they could squeeze in a 7th race (5 + Le Mans) to the calender somewhere during the year though.

This may have been posted elsewhere, but it looks increasingly as if the Istanbul LMS race will be the first race of the 2006 season.

DSC has posted the complete and final LMS calendar for 2006:

26-27 March Official LMS testing at Paul Ricard
14-16 April Istanbul
12-14 May Spa
14-16 July Nurburgring
26-27 August Donington
22-24 September

We could get through 2006 without a wet weather tyre being raced in anger..........

I would imagine so. A bigger calender would undoubtedly mean smaller grids, a 5 round calender is a strech for some of the teams as it is.

Why bother with Monza????

The past two years, an estimated 3,000 people showed up to watch the race....

I think they should dump Monza and race elsewhere....

some place where fans will actually show up to watch the event...

Holland???

Spain???

Why not run at Brno in the Czech Republic???

But the Italians don't care one hoot about the LMS...

they voted with their wallets....

It is time to move that race elsewhere

Its not just about spectators, teams and drivers want to race at major circuits.

Apparently there was a significant increase in spectaor numbers at Monza this year, and I would expect the same next year.

Once you attract a few manufactuers they will help build the attendance.
