Kyle Busch cited for driving 128mph in a 45mph zone
Apparently, he was testing a new sports car and got carried away.

83mph over the limit; impressive.
Well done, Kyle! |

According to the North Carolina DOT driver's guide, he SHOULD receive a 60 day suspension for speeding and reckless driving on the same occasion, but it could be a longer duration if court deemed necessary. They also list any speeding ticket of 75 mph, NOT 75 over but actually doing 75, can result in revocation of your license. With any like offenses on his record, both in and out of state he could be facing a longer suspension. If he has another reckless from within the last year, or is dumb enough to get another within the year, he could lose it for 12 months. But how strict is the Carolina DMV? I knew guys in Virginia that had 6-10 DUIs and yet could still pay the fine, go through the alcohol program and get another license after a couple years, when third offense is supposed to be mandatory, permanent revocation of driving privilege.

Should be banned from the next race or 2. 83mph over the limit is crazy, doesnt matter if your a professional racing driver or a newly qualified driver, its reckless, stupid, irresponsible.

If it had been on a major highway, maybe NASCAR could let it slide but Yahoo had the map of the road he was on and winding 2 lane country road doesn't quite describe it right. The number of intersections he had to blow through to get to even 100 is high.
If he does lose his street license, NASCAR should park him for at least one race. I would say losing your street car license should preclude him from racing but a couple of the GTC guys in the ALMS ran without having a license since they lived in NYC and who drives themselves in New York? |

You don't need a valid road license to hold a NASCAR license.
This gets back to the mess NASCAR made when they declared the teams/drivers private contractors. In saying that, NASCAR has to be detached from discipline of this nature (though they still get involved from time-to-time, hence it's a mess). It's up to JGR to penalize Kyle as they see fit, in the same way Rusty Wallace had to deal with Michael Annett's DUI, or Jack Roush handled Kurt Busch's adventures in Maricopa County. And something tells me J.D. Gibbs isn't the man his father is. The changes at JGR when J.D. took over are exactly what put Bobby Labonte off multi-car teams, and why he will ride out the rest of his career solo. But that's neither here nor there. Kyle Busch is an idiot, and I wish law enforcement and/or JGR would do something about it, because, well, you know the old "if it were me or you, and never would have been me or you, but if it had been..." argument. |

Perhaps instead of fines or losing his license, he should have the LFA taken away from him and be forced to drive a Prius or Camry, without brakes (mind you all of them dont have any). Then we would see how many Toyota plugs Kyle would make on the weekend.

He got of easy, $1000 is nothing to him, what do NASCAR drivers earn a race, $200,000 for a guy like Busch?

Kyle Busch is now the third driver in NASCAR without a valid road license, joining Nationwide Series drivers Michael Annett and Marc Davis. Annett lost his due to a DUI, while Davis failed to pay a ticket recently.

What they should be is an entirely different issue, but they can't change them for this instance only. Earns more from salary than race winnings. But if it is unfair to have a more lenient justice system for the wealthy, as many believe there is, it is just as unfair to have a stricter one. Fines have to be the same for everyone... |
