V8insider should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Warning: Closing Race Circuits!!!!!

There is one major thing that people forget when they decide to close down race tracks!!!!!

STATE TITLE COMPETITORS

HQ, COMMO CUP, SPORT SEDANS ETC.....

Most of these people are just out for some fun on weekends but they are also a training ground for the higher classes such as V8. I know first hand that V8 are the bigest thing at the moment, but sacraficing "UNDER THE STANDARD OF AVESCO TRACKS" such as Calder Park or Lakeside.

They need to be saved or ALL of motorsport in aus will suffer!!

This is a direct result of the ultimate swing to Touring Cars and pushing them so far up the ladder that everything else is forgotten.

And they are so powerful that they can make demands on promoters, who wilt under the pressure and finish up spending more than they can afford to please them and to thus stand a chance of getting a crowd to pay their way for the year...

It only takes a wet race day to destroy their finances.

It's funny how things really started to slide after 1998 at Lakeside... the Konicas apparently made a very good return for the outlay of money, but that aint enough to cover the void.

Now I am probably state level racings greatest advocate, and to say that this is a kick in the pants is a major understatment. If Lakeside wasn't to reopen, numbers here could possibly take a major dive... people are slowly getting to like QR, but still, it's proving much harder to get a field out there compared to Lakeside. Plus if you look at classes like Improved Prod and Sports Sedans, many cars which are capable of fighting for a win at Lakeside are down the back of the pack at QR...
