Nice job on the thread luke!
Good thing this will be a night race, as it has been extremely hot for the last couple of weeks down there. From what I'm hearing it looks as though the race will be staying on ESPN. ABC wanted to move the race there, due to the success of the Indy 500, but it seem's there are contractual problems. Thats a shame really. ABC could have gotten better ratings... Can't wait for this one! |

There is a decent piece on the IRL's website about Texas as a venue and the type of racing action it provides....
Texas is one of my big favorites of each Season...usually a very wild shootout.... |

Thanks GP Racer!
I would have to agree, Texas is an exciting track similar to Chiagoland. There has been a lot of memories from the oval, when Sam got his second title when it went down to the last lap to beet the Penske guys. And a not so good memory when Kenny Brack has lucky to escape a live from his horrific crash just from the finish in '03, remember that race when 5 guys could have won the title that day? |

Texas is always a great race. I'm betting over 100,000 people attend.
Fingers crossed |

Jimmy Kite will substitute for Paul Dana once again, as Dana is still recovering from the injuries he suffered at Indianapolis.

I think Buddy Lazier would deserve a seat after his brilliant performance at Indy.

Wasn't expecting to see Bucknum on the list...thought his deal was just for Motegi and Indy... He is not running at Le Mans for Miracle (AFAIK) and won't be racing in the ALMS again until Lime Rock on July 4.... Wonder if he is also inked for Richmond??? |

When I clicked on this earlier, Bucknum was on it...now he is not... That's wierd...but that sounds more correct... |

I'm pleased this thread has gone well so far, and to let you know I will also be doing a preview / weekend race thread with Marcus in the Champ Car forum, so if you wish to see any extra addons that you would like to be featured just mention your idea in this thread or either by pm.
Cheers, Luke. |

Finally have some info on the TV situation for Sweden. As the race broadcast collides with the comeback of Mike Tyson, the IndyCar race from Texas will be shown tape-delayed, in full, at 6am Sunday morning. In other words some three, four hours after it would have been shown had it been live.

Scheckter ran a 213.6 thus far and Rice has a 213 flat in the heat of the day (the high is supposed to be 94 F in Texas this afternoon) among the Group 1 cars....
I think the Pole Time once it cools off some could go as high as 216 tonight.... |

The Texas weekend usually has a lot of racing...
Including the NASCAR Craftsman Trucks....it is probably one of the reasons Hemelgarn kept Kite in th seat....He'll be there that weekend... I'm not sure what all of the race events are though....maybe the Texas Motor Sppedway site has a full list.... But the iRL will get in a second practice session before they qualify at 8:30 EDT tonight... I doubt they will learn a great deal this afternoon in the heat...the handling and aero characteristics would definitely change with a little cooler track.... |
