10 car garage
Simple Question really if you had a 10 car garage to fill and money was no object what would you choose.
Catch is no 2 can be the same car. And each garage has a few rules as to what can be put in it. The examples will be to extremes of the scale, to prompt imagination. 1. Off road/utility Exactly that your outback vehicle for carrying engine parts across rough terrain. e.g. Mitsubishi L200 - Hummer H1 - Ford F150 lightning People carrier To do just that, when you have to take a bunch of your mates with you. e.g. Renault Espace - Cadilac Escalade - Lincoln Limousine. Trackday Go wild kids, but stick with the spirit of a car that you would enjoy thrashing around your favourite circuit for days on end. e.g. Renault Clio 182 - Radical sr7 - Ferrari 360 stradale cs Fancy Occasion If you were to roll up to a red carpet at a film premier what would you choose to roll up in. Bentley - Rolls Royce - Maybach - or be creative! Small car This is hear because there is traffic in every city and town these days, so what would you choose to weave through it. Doesn't have to be sporty but it does have to be small (relatively) e.g. Ford Fiesta - Peugeot 106 gti - Citron C2 vtr 4door/ 4 people You got it, you need to have at least 4 doors (5 is fine) and you and 3 friends should be able (technically at least) to go for a spin in it. e.g .Ford Mondeo - Ford Focus - Mercedes S class - Subaru Impreza WRX. Exotic. Well here it is the one that most people will say first to the 'Any car you want' question. No rules except that it has to be in some way exclusive. e.g. Pagaini Zonda - original Model T - Big Foot - TVR Cerbera Speed 12 Open top/roadster. Right It's top off time , when the sun shines what would you take the keys to. e.g. Audi A4 cabrio - Ferrari 550 open top - Aerial atom Sportscar This is the sport car that isn't a super car. You know what I mean, there are rich blokes in your country driving these sort of car. Porsche 911 - Ferrari 360 - Aston Martin DB9 Classic This is because if you like cars you'll like at least one car form a by gone era that would do it for you. It must be more than 20 years old but after that it's all personal preference. Ford Prefect (for what ever reason!) - Chevy Impala SS - Lotus Elan - Any thing you'd have for what ever sentimental reason you like. I'll put my list up in a while. Sorry if this has been done or is a bit long, I wont be offended if you remove it ___________________ |

Something similar was done a while back, but I like your rules for each garage. Should be some interesting lists!
I think my list may take some time, but I'll post it eventually. |

Ok, first attempt...
1. 4x4 - The Best (tm) - a Range Rover Vogue (possibly breathed on by Overfinch) 2. 'People Carrier' - a full size Van Hool bodied Volvo coach kitted out to accommodate a dozen or so people in absolute decadent luxury. And for longer journeys, a similarly equipped Boeing 737. 3. Trackday car - great fun that a Redical would be, my ageing bones require some protection from the elements, so a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup. 4. Fancy occasion - Rolls Royce Phantom. Nothing else even comes close, especially the Maybach - a hateful car for lottery winning chavs. 5. Small/city car - a London Taxi. If it's good enough for Stephen Fry, it's good enough for me. Go anywhere, stop anywhere, annoy everyone. 6. 4 door/4 people - a Bentley Arnage T. Not as decadent as the Phantom, but unparalleled for performance and luxury. 7. Exotic - Porsche Carrera GT. I know, I've already got one Porsche, but the Carrera GT is the best of the supercars. Maybe not as awesome to look at (or quite as quick) as the Enzo, but most definitely a superior piece of engineering. 8. Open top/roadster - Pagani Zonda C12 Roadster. Possibly even more exclusive than my exotic choice, but hey - you said money no object! 9. Sportscar - Lamborghini Murcielago. Not exactly practical, but I've got a Bentley and a Range Rover for practical... and nothing else on this list has quite the same presence as an orange Murcielago. 10. Classic - Ferrari 250/275. Blatant cop out, but my choice would depend less on specific model and much more on the car itself - glorious history and condition being paramount. OK, I know precisely which car I want, but I don't foresee Nick Mason selling it, do you? |

Well, if they really were to sell the 907, I would think about it.... No sportscars? But to me a 911 is one...I love the shape of the Pagani, the Ferraris, the Lambos, the 737s... and even the Hummer is fun to look at, but I have tried to list cars which you can use everyday because those are real cars to me. They must be fast when you want them to and confortable when you expect them to...Ok, just forgot the DB9 but I had no more space...hrug: |

Re: 10 car garage
Blimey, these lists get harder! Nice twist though Draven
Off road - I thought Works Martini Lancia Delta Integrale Evo Rally car, but I don't know how many engines you could carry with that(!), so I'll go for that great big Lambo 4x4, the name of which escapes me at this moment. People carrier - Renault Espace F1. For a serious answer, I might need some help as people-carriers really aren't my thing! Trackday - The new Radical V8, though I'd be happy to pound round in a BMW 3.0 CSL whilst I was awaiting delivery. Fancy Occasion - 1955 Bentley R Continental or the original Aston Martin V8 Vantage Small car - Lotus Talbot Sunbeam. So that I could smoke all the boy-racers in their XRs and Saxo's without them even knowing what had just blown them off! 4door/ 4 people - BMW M5 (any version really) Exotic - Cop-out alert: McLaren F1, Lamborghini Miura or Aston DB4 GT Zagato. Open top/roadster - Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 (well, they mostly had open bodies!) Sportscar - One of the Porsche 911 variants. Probably the 930, the turbo with the shovel nose, just to be different. Classic - Gordon Keeble I'm sure I'm going to come back to this next week and think of some completely different answers, but that's the list done for now! |

1. Off Road : Nissan Patrol
2. People Carrier: I usually hate people carriers too(and Hondas for that matter.....), but the new Honda Oddysey (how do you spell that??) looks pretty damn good for a people carrier, low, long and sleek. 3. Track Day: Merc CLK GTR 4. Fancy: Maybach LWB...why not? 5. Small Car: Suzuki Cappucino Turbo 6. 4 door sedan: R33 GTS-t 4 door/Ford Falcon XR6T 7. Exotic: Some form of Lambo...or something 8. Roadster: 7 with an SR20DET 9. Sports car: Ferrari 456 10. Classic: Ford GT40/First GT-R |

After giving my list a little bit more thought I've decided that considering my growing family etc I should change the Toyota Previa for something more suitable, a Routemaster bus.

Can we add 'if no medical conditions would stop you driving' to the list as well as the infinate money please? Anyway, if I could drive I would have:
A Hummer H2 for going off road in. An old minibus for carrying all my mates around. (does that count as a people carrier?) An Ariel Atom for blasting around a track on. A Mercedes V Class for fancy occasions. A Mini Cooper S for my small car. A Jaguar XJ as my four door saloon car A Koenigsegg for my exotic car A Honda S2000 for my open top car A Porsche 911 Turbo as a sports car And a Ford RS200 as my classic car. Ok, there's my list, wide open for critisism! |

Off-road: Mitsubish Pajero Evolution, the one that won Dakar.
People carrier, or what I call a Roadtrip car: 1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible. Trackday: I wanted to say McLaren F1, but I'd be scared to throw it around the race track so I'll say a Lotus Exige Cup car. Fancy Occasion: Aston Martin DB5 - no need for rocket launchers or an ejector seat though. Small Car: 2005 Mini Cooper S (with the John Cooper Works engine), small enough? No? Ok, 1964 Mini Cooper S, with more power than the car that won the Monte Carlo Rally. 4door, 4people: Easy, 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, my next car. Exotic: Ok, here's where I get my McLaren F1 Open Top: BMW Z8 Sportscar: Aston Martin AMV8 Vantage, because I don't wanna be just like all those rich people in my country. Classic: Geez, this is a tough one... after flipping between the E-Type and an Elan (and the Aston, which I used in a different catergory ) my choice for a 'classic' is a BMW 2002 Turbo... mainly because I've always wanted one. |

1. Off Road : Bell JetRanger don't like 4x4's or 90% of the idiots that drive them. Farmers and others that actually need them and use them for off road use are o.k.
2. People Carrier: none... don't like them either. I would leave this space free for another sports car, and hire a people carrier when and if I need one. 3. Track Day: Lotus Exige... was tempted to choose a Radical, but not sure if I'd want to drive one for several hours to the track. 4. Fancy occasion: Maserati quattroporte. 5. Small Car: Alfa Romeo Alfasud Ti... say a 1983 QV model with a few mods... and a rust removal specialist on standby. 6. 4 door sedan: BMW M5... but please not one of those latest Bangle BMW's, make it a classic E28 or E34 M5, with that wonderful 24 valve engine. 7. Exotic: McLaren F1 GTR - no explanation required. 8. Roadster: Caterham Superlight R500... was going to say Lotus Elise, but since I already choose an Exige for my track day car, I'm going for the Caterham. 9. Sports car: BMW M3 CSL.... just to annoy those people that say it isn't a real Sports/GT. Then once I've upset enough people, I'd probably sell it, or move it into the people carrier slot (see 2 above) and get a Ferrari 430 when that comes out. 10. Classic: Alfa Romeo TZ2... was going to say Ferrari 250 GTO, but since everyone else will have a 250 GTO in their 10 car garage, they might become a bit too common. By the way.... for those having difficulty deciding on a "small car", you might want to enter "small car" in google, which finds this Green Vehicle Guide - All Small Cars Sorted by Rating for Model Year 2003. Check out what they consider a small car to include: http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/smcar-03.htm |
