As a fan of BGT it is great to see JP and SR coming to an agreement and producing a decent calendar for 2007.

Indeed this looks like a good calender, I may well attend the Thruxton event myself providing the entry is of a decent standard.

Only real downside that I can see is the departure of Pau and, to a lesser extent, Mondello. Pau was a terrific spectacle, especially around sunset, and Mondello gave the championship some real "British Isles" credibility.
Other than that it looks pretty decent - ticking all the circuit boxes in terms of tracks in the UK. Fingers crossed now for decent grids. |

this year i missed donington because i didn't want to go on my own and it was a great race and missed silverstone because i was in a car accident about a week before and coundn't go and again it was a good race. i think national championships make so much more scene at 2 hours and 2, 1 hour races. I'l agree about the entries I hope there up from last year. I did go to oulton but the lack of gt2 competiton was very disapointing, the panoz was good but just not as fast as the ferrari. I rambling sorry about that.

British GT a championship that doesn't visit Scotland or Wales hardly 'British' more English.
And traditionally the British GT series has visited either Spa or Mondello in the past 10 years. Viper, the reason no Spa trip has been put down to costs. |

i'd say there is no modello because only 2 gt2 cars and about 12 others turned up. there may have been 1 or 2 more cup cars but not many and the year before was a similar story. just a guess at why they are no going back there.

I mean: in the last 2 years the British GT series visit France.
2005 in Magny-Cours (or was it Dijon?) toghether with the FIA GT. 2006 in Pau toghether with the French GT(2 & 3 cars). Why not this year a visit to France? Only the GT2's of British GT make the trip overseas and don't think they aren't not capitablke to pay the cost of such a trip no more after al those years...? |

How long has it been since the BGT has remained solely on dry land and not ventured off to Mondello, Spa, etc at least once in the season?
Are the other SRO run National Series staying on home turf for '07? |

The British GT teams wanted the calendar to have no foreign trips, according to Autosport magazine this week.

Good News on the Viper entries...
Now, does anyone have any real belief that there will be any significant GT2 entry for 2007 (or even either of the 2 main competitors we had in '06), or will it just be GT's 3 and C? My personal hope is that GT3 becomes the 'top' class, and this will encourage entries (for some, if not all, rounds) from teams concentrating on the FIA GT3 championship. Even if there was just a pair of cars from each of Lotus, Aston, Mosler, Porsche and Chrysler/Dodge wouldn't that be the strongest pack ofBGT frontrunners for several years? |

I was having a peek at LNT's website earlier, it said they have 1 car they'd enter in BGT if there was a GT2 class, so my guess is that GT2 won't feature anymore in the championship. If Scuderia Ecosse ran two cars, we'd still need 3 more. I can't see that many 997's (if there would potentially be any at all) entering in Britain.
However, GT3 is looking really good, and will be a real bonus for BGT. I'd like to see a Corvette or a Maserati in there, but generally '07 might actually turn out to be a really great season for the championship! |

I'm a driver entering into British GT in 2007, and we are currently choosing the car, Corvette, Mosler or the Viper. Still finding the best option for myself and the other driver, but it will be in the press when its announced. Its going to be a big year for British GT's with plenty of GT3 entries!!
