Ever raced on TV?
I watched a programme called 'Classics' on Men & Motors last night, which had a bit about classic saloon racing.
I only saw the last bit of it, but it showed a Classic & Post Historic race of CTCRC at Thruxton. I don't know what year it was but it was pretty well made, with in car cameras in Les Nash and I think Roger Cope's cars. I was wondering if you and your race car has been seen at anytime on TV - and did you tape it? Also, have you seen any forum members racing on TV? I remember Ian Cowley and Rick Kerry doing a sort of Wilhire thing at Snetterton a while back. |

Me too - best one was final round of the Britsh GT 97 when we had to fight off Win Percy and Ian Flux. My man Greasley in his Porsche GT1 got to the front halfway round the final lap of the final round to take the Championship. Phew ... great TV though I say so myself!

I was watching a series on Men and Motors last year about racing in the 50s and 60s. One episode came on and my uncle was sitting on pole on the grid in his Etype back in 1963 or 64 at Brands. Unfortunately he came in 2nd, I think, behind a Cobra.

I was on TV for karting back in South Africa and then Formula Asia a few years ago. Plus the revival meeting at Goodwood.

I was in a support race at the V8 Supercar Bathurst 1000 last year and stopped on the warm-up lap. The race was red-flagged at the second corner after a massive pile-up, so I ended up getting more airtime than anyone else in the race.

Think Stephen wins the TV contest. How many people have been the focus of the world on an F1 race day. Top Man Stephen!

I've won once on TV (Brands Aug 2000 UK Clios) and I've been guest presenter for Eurosport when we were racing in Misano (they were too cheap to take a presenter AND a film crew to Italy). Cheers RickP

I've raced a couple of times on TV, it was karts though,
The first time I won that was on cable TV The second time I came 3rd, that was the Gulf Super Prix that went out on Terestrial TV. Worst thing was I went onto the podium in some nakered old cut down jeans, not so bad you might think but it keeps coming back to haunt me as it's a popular video to play at indoor karting meetings... |
