well, i dont think there will be great respect for him.
although maybe Minardi will still hire him some time for the money and Russian support.

But it doesnt seem all that serious, the police did not seem to do much according to that article.

How can a driver let this happen?

This article speaks of a race on the streets of Moscow. How can he expect to be taken serious in F1!

Ops! Sorry, I didn't see this was already posted.

Well, it's not like Russia has rule of law or anything.

It was a pretty dumb thing to do, but at least he's got balls!

Minardi tester in illeagal street race

from itv-f1.com

Occasional Minardi tester Sergei Zlobin has been accused of taking part in an illegal street race.

The RIA news agency claimed that the Russian suffered the embarrassment of finishing last in the Moscow race – but that was because he had obeyed the law of the road, stopping at traffic lights and slowing down for the police.

The race is reported to have taken place early on Monday morning. Zlobin clocked a time of 25m35s over the course, putting him more than nine minutes down on the winner, who was apparently apprehended by police.

However, a Minardi spokesman insisted that Zlobin had done nothing wrong. and had merely been participating in a properly controlled motorsport road demonstration.

Zlobin had told RIA that his defeat was down to "the observance of the rules of the road."

He added: "For me the main thing was not to win. The most important thing is to draw attention to the development of Russian motor sport."

Zlobin said he would take part in a return race - "but not under any circumstances in the city."
