BTCC Archive?
I'm looking for information on old BTCC races.
Specifically, the results of the 1989 BTCC race at Donington. Hmmmm, those RS500s..... Does anyone know where I could get this information? Cheers |

I am sure someone will come up with an answer very soon, but if not I have some old Autosports from then, was it just the Donnington race?

Right, I've got 2 Donnington races - Rnd 4 (2 driver) & Rnd 12. I have full results but will just give top 5 in each:
Rnd 4 1. Bristow/Needell RS500 2. Gravett/Allam RS500 3. Harvey/Sears RS500 4. Walker/Hill RS500 (I think this is Damon Hill) 5. Van Kouwen/Dieudonne RS500 Sytner/Hoy won class B & Cleland/Flux won class C Rnd 12 1. Harvey RS500 2. Gravett RS500 3. Rouse RS500 4. Sears RS500 5. Walker RS500 James Weaver won Class B and John Cleland Class C and Ray Armes class D Can give you full results if you want, just ask. |

Wow, thank you! I think it is Damon too! Two driver races, they should still have some of those! Perhaps just a couple a year! End of season thing? Test out new drviers for next year alongside the proven winners?

It was interesting to see the pairings in those days. Do you remember the Gravett/Blomquvist(?) pairing, in 1990 I think it was? Gravett pulled out a large lead and swapped to Stig. 2nd placed David Sears in the Rouse car chased down Blomquvist and was behind him on the last lap. The pressure from Sears force the Blomquvist to fall off at the very last corner, Sears taking the win. Poor Gravett's face when he realised all his hard work was for nothing! A great race.

Those sort of pairing make for a good race. I wouldn't want to see these races as the norm (it's not touring cars forte), but the odd one can be really interesting. Like Bathurst!

Thanks KA.
On a similar subject I was wondering about the Sierra and it's specification. Hmmmm, I think this would be better as a new thread... |
