The Tool Man should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Cross Entering in Cars ????

I noticed in the AVESCO list of practice times that many cars were listed with Both of the teams sets of drivers per car.

EG Car 21 Brad Jones / John Bowe - John Cleland / Tim LEahey

I thought Cross entering was now outlawed.

Whats the story. ??

They can cross enter up until either just before or just after Qualifying - can't recall which but Sevi cleared it up a couple of weeks ago.

Until this point they can run in any car they are entered for; at or after this point they cannot change cars again.

Does that mean you could effectively enter an extra car or two just for practice. eg...Seten enter an extra car but just name himself and Kelly, thus Kelly can practice and/or qualify one car and Seten the other but withdraw it friday arvo, giving each more track time? BMW did this in 1997, David Brabham ran the #22 BMW on Thursday to give him more track time.

This was done quite abit in the 70s i think, then in the 80s the extra cars started to be entered more (Roadways and Moffat '84, Johnson/Perkins Mustang's '85).

Seem to remember in the early 90's that some teams used to run T-cars in the early practice sessions, anyone know why this dosnt happen anymore??

Probably because they've abolished Wednesday practice, and it just isn't viable to bring a T car for just 2 1 hour sessions I suppose.

T and spare cars are no longer permitted - similarly with dummy entries. Because of the way the franchise system works you couldn't have, for example, HRT enter cars 1, 2 and 101 and then withdraw 101 - they would have to enter a driver pairing for that car AND have a franchise to run it under
