Was there at Albert Park when had his maiden race in F1, not a bad innings as F1 drivers go.

I think he will prefer the environment at Porsche and will do well. I myself am happy about his decision.

I don't see how knowing that a driver will leave after the season would influence such decisions. Also, there won't be any more obvious team orders at RB. It's bad for the drinks company corporate image and neither of the drivers would obey anyway so it would be pointless.

So who will replace Webber, my guess is a monosylabic party loving Finn who allmost allways gets to the finnish.

i notice a lot of people on twitter are asking why there's a red bull young driver scheme if they don't ever intend to promote them to the actual main f1 team.
really, given the choice between signing kimi (potentially) or promoting jev or ricciardo... it's a no brainer. if kimi wasn't an option then fair enough, you're not going to get many better drivers than the ones they have at toro rosso. but what sort of driver should red bull consider replacing webber with? do they go for a compliant sort, or someone completely different who will make vettel's life more difficult? |

With Red Bulls image which is generally extreme sports etc. Kimi fits the bill perfectly, a little out there takes risks and parties, but with F1 the Red Bull image is somewhat diluted and has to be more corporate and business like which we all know Kimi does not like. We'll see I guess.

Fantastic news!! I'm quite looking forward to seeing Mark in the Porsche, he'll thrive in the more laid back atmosphere without any of the politics of F1.

Not so sure about Kimmi myself. RB obviously want to keep Vettel but I can't see him wanting to be anything other than a clear number 1.
I'm sure some of the front running teams have kept Kobayashi's number. On his day, he can be fabulously quick and he seems to have cut the crashing from his racing. He's only going to mature further in the WEC. In fact I think he's the best option as a number 2, because he has the pace to win, but not the consistency to trouble Vettel in the Championship over a course of a season. He's who I'd be snapping up. And putting that man in a potential racing winning machine at Suzuka could be worth its weight in gold. |

With the strength of the rumours flying around, I thought this was on the cards.

really? i don't know if it is. the current situation is clearly working to get world championships out of vettel but is there more to be had from him? would he be more likely to hang around a bit longer if the challenge he faced from his teammate changed by employing someone like kimi, or if it was strengthened by bringing in one of the toro rosso boys for a year or so?

I think he'd be perfectly happy not to have to deal with Kimi - or a young hotshoe. But I'd very much like to be wrong.....

I think one of the Toro Rosso driver is better for Red Bull, as Kimi Raikkonen.

It's LeMans 2014 on the grid to start the race and it's not Webber driving either of the cars in the first stint... Does that make him still a number 2? Perhaps even a Number 3 of a team?
