Yeah, I read that in Autosport yesterday. It is by no means confirmed, neither by driver nor team, but it's bound to be announced sooner or later isn't it?

It seems pretty much certain, and not a surprise really. With rumours of Kimi leaving, Mclaren is eager to tie this superstar down.... but now, how does that help DC perform?

Maybe this will be the spur for DC.....realising it could well be his last crack at the championship, he could give it everything and go on to break all records and win the title at a cant.........

Big shame really.
Never rated him highly (but there are few that I do) but will never forget Monza '99 when he went through the chicane right on the limit and held the mooooooooost enoooooooooooooooormous slide! Great stuff. |

Wouldn't it be funny if DC went somewhere where they had a magic car next year and he beat Kimi and JPM for the title... Maybe wishful thinking but I'd love to see it happen.

It's not really a surprise. Would Ron drop Kimi over DC? I think not. When Monty signed for 2005 it was a forgone conclusion that DC would be out.
DC will have had 9 competent seasons at McLaren, but not enough to keep him over Kimi. If McLarem were to keep DC on, where would Kimi most likely go? Exactly. Ron wouldn't have that. |

Well good riddance, although i'll remember him from his most comical moments like Adelaide 1995 for instance! |

I hope (and assume) this wont lead to DC out of F1, just a front running seat.
Many of the teams outside the top 3 could do much worse than hiring the ex-MacLaren developement driver. |

I'm tired of DC in F1. Let someone else have a chance, we know he doesn't have any surprises in him. To me he's probably the least intersting driver currently on the grid, even though he's not the slowest.

I think that DC though deserve to remain in F1, doesn't deserve his place at Mclaren. He had wasted that seat for the last couple of seasons, and it's just right that Mclaren go for somebody who carries more potential.

It wasn't a matter of picking DC over Kimi, it was whether or not Kimi would stay with Monty there. He doesn't have a problem with that and they've obviously paid him enough. If RD shows the sort of favour towards Kimi that he showed Mika over Dc I wonder how long JPM will stay...

That was a great drive by DC, although he won it in the pits... Remember he and Alesi (first half leader) pitting together and McLaren turning DC around quicker.
