Oulton Park Gold Cup 2005
Just received tickets and timetable - certainly plenty on, and should all be a good day.
So, who else is going? And who's camping? |

Pah, i'm in the tent for all 3 days, and i should be annoying Jan & Tony in the pitlane but somehow i've been put down for incident again. Gonna be a great meeting and looking forward to the Chervon Fest!

I'll be there Sunday and Monday, no camping though. Already seen a handful of Chevron trailers from as far afield as Germany during the commute along the M56. Looking good.

If you read the paperwork that is enclosed with your tickets you will see (In the First Paragraph) "The Ticket Is Valid For All Three Days"! I was asked to point this out by one of the Senior officials of this meeting |

Most bizarre!
My tickets for this meeting (Only volunteered on wednesday) arrived today! Bearing in mind that the PO don't deliver on Sundays - a red RM van pulled up this morning at about 10am and the postie delivered to virtually every house on our street! So, I WILL be there tomorrow - three observers to a post is it? Last edited by Mark Mitchell; 28 Aug 2005 at 20:56. Reason: Can't sodding spell Bizarre! |

What a great weekend!
Beautiful cars, superb racing &, after a bit of a damp start today, what must now be regarded as traditional Gold Cup weather. The damp start certainly made things interesting - big powerful rear wheel drive cars on a damp track are......interesting! Race of the weekend? For me, the classic saloons......although it does make you feel old when you're standing there saying 'BMW 1800TI......had one of them.....Mk1 Cortina GT.....had one & a half of them......1500GT Anglia......helped a mate build one of them......' Best moment of the weekend? Possibly a certain marshal......let's call him Glynn......demonstrating that he CAN move VERY quickly. Imagine the scene; car spins off at the exit of Foulstons (oops, Brittens) chicane, & ends up on the grass, facing wrong direction. Driver then decides to reverse back onto the circuit, which means he's trying to reverse a rear-wheel drive car uphill on grass. Said marshal decides that the driver needs assistance, so he leaps off the tyre wall & goes to the front of the car to give it a push. Unfortunately the driver has now decided that it would be better to go forwards...... The icing on the cake for me was that I was at one of my favourite posts, Island/Foulstons. One of the best things about this meeting is the wonderful sound of many of the cars, both quality & volume - at Island/Foulstons you get it from both sides! |

Can I just say that it ws really nice to see so many Marshals waving etc at the end of the saloons race - I'd had a really good race, and it kind of puts the icing on the cake to have such an appreciative and knowledgable welcome (as ever) to Oulton - my personal favourite circuit in the UK!

Likewise, it's fantastic to be appreciated by the drivers too. Had a bit of a shakey start (well, very shakey to be truthful!) but i throughly enjoyed my 2 days in the pitlane. Lost count of the number of extinguishers we used, but glad all the cars were saved all be it a little more white than when they entered the pitlane. Such great cars always bring the best marshalling experiences, but can someone please stop Pit Bull from setting fire to everything and anything, or failing that just warn me so i can move upwind of him next time
