Larry Perkins vs. Paul Dumbrell
Have the Drumbrell cheques stopped rolling into Perkins Engineering? We haven't seen a public bashing like that since Mr. Morris gave a free apraisal of Mr. Gurr.
FWIW I thought Larry was way out of line - sure Drumbrell made contact and glanced the wall on his second lap (with some assistance) but the terminal damage was done when CPR team sent it back out in a damaged state. Clearly PD is out for next year - I doubt any other key teams would be interested. The second CPR car is a bit like the second GRM car these days - not the best place to show your talent. |

i felt i better post back to this one, with me being PD fan club manager.
Larry comments were nto nice at all, i have not had the chance to speak to Paul or his Dad (Garry) to hear what they think of the comments. I somehow think PD will be off to some other team next year |

Was it one of the HSVDT cars that 'assisted' PD into the wall at Griffins?

Is now the appropriate time to mention LP's magic moment in overstaying his welcome driving V8Supercars... "old bloke, cold tyres, stuffed up" from only a few short years ago. Mr Dumbrell is a talented driver, you cannot put a car in the top 10, and indeed sit on pole for almost all the session like last year if you cant drive. Instead of shytcanning the driver, perhaps Mr Perkins would do well to mentor him, and indeed provide some insight as to what isnt working, as opposed to dropping a load in public.... |

Hope the intent of the thread was not missed - I was 100% behind Dumbrell on this one and believe he *could* do a Whicup on them next season if given the right atmosphere. LP walling it did come to mind, as does the sub-standard equip he is currently supplying some teams.
I can't believe either party would want to continue into next year but stranger things have happened... |

I think Paul Dumbrell in an ex-PMM car, with IRCA running it for Mr Nash, with Autobarn on the sides, and a decent chassis engineer aboard would have been extremely competitive!

Dumbrell is too much of a Liability and Steven Richards deserves a quality Co Driver.

Off topic but how ironic was the interview with Garry (after his second car hit the wall) when Wincup was hunting down the HRT car after he fired him for not being competative enough! |

i have to agree with Perkins comments about PD .
I had the same thoughts about him and the incident before they spoke to larry. No doubt the guy can drive but such a STUPID mistake on the biggest race of the year is inexcusable.( same goes for Lowndes). |

yeahh i agree with those about Larry's last few efforts behind the wheel
i really felt that Larry was out of line.. also being a fan of the man for some years, i was a little embarssed for the whole team re LP's comments Dumbrell is a quality driver.. i believe with a decent car and support of his team owner/manager you would see some good things. |

GTR, Maybe PD could use his previous engineer from the Konica series ?
IRCA you have suggested could this be the Dumbrell B plan ? |

Get punted into the wall.
Have the damage fixed and tyre replaced. Hit Wall again. [1] Do we know the reason for [1] ? Was it tyre/mechanical failure due to initial damage ? DKGandBH |

Grow a sense of humour. What had Dumbrell done this year in a top level team? Wasnt the 11 car rebadged to 24 so that its license gathered points? The 24 car is Dumbrells isnt it? mmmmmmmmmmmm I reckon Dumbrell would be bettr off driving with Besnard. |
