FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DE MONACO 2017. Grand Prix Weekend Thread
F1 heads to the Principality of Monaco this weekend for its always enticing mix of glamour and speed. Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton’s burgeoning rivalry was once again on display last time out in Spain as they went wheel-to-wheel for victory, with the latter emerging victorious.
Both drivers know what it takes to win in Monaco – but who will come out on top this weekend? Fast facts - Monaco https://www.formula1.com/en/video/20..._-_Monaco.html Re-live last year's race in Monaco https://www.formula1.com/en/video/20...in_Monaco.html |

Just seen JB's cheeky pass on Lew at close of P2. I'd love to have seen both their faces – I bet they both had a bit of a chuckle. He's clearly not fazed by the new car, and right up there with Vandyman. But then he has nothing to lose now, and that will help him a lot, mentally.

He's just saying that he enjoys driving so much he wants to do it competitively until he can no longer hold a steering wheel because his hands are riddled with arthritis...

Monaco can be a bit of a snoozefest, due to the nature of the track. However, I'm looking forward to this year's race, to see how the battle with Vettee and Ferrari Vs. Lulu and Mercedes pans out, especially the strategy.
Mercedes got the better of Ferrari in Spain, so can they do the same at Monaco or do Ferrari have something up there sleeves? It will also be interesting to see how McLaren fare, while Alonso is at the 500. Eitherway, I get to see two of the World's most classic races and they couldn't be more different. |

Given JB is at the back of the grid, I don't know why McLaren doesn't use a new one of each PU element to build up Alonso's bank??
It just makes sense to do it now, and possible to be done before the start of qualifying. |

Don't the 2017 rules call for any bits replaced beyond 4 engines to be unavailable for use during the rest of the season?

So as I understand that ruling, if Button was to use 2 turbochargers, which results in a grid penalty for the second unit, only the second turbocharger will be usable for subsequent rounds. So Button can effectively introduce a single PU element each that will be useable in forthcoming races. That's how I read it anyway. |

Hamilton goes out in Q2 due to Vandoorne putting his McLaren into the barrier. The irony is Vandoorne goes through to Q3 but won't be able to continue because of the damage to his car.

There is something not quite right about the Mercedes chassis this year... so many radio messages about a lack of rear grip...
