Why bother looking elsewhere when AWS is the best.

vw nut, there's HT Hughes in Manchester too & they have a website. In my opinion their overalls are far superior to AWS but thats down to personal preferance. If I was to replace my current overalls I purchased from BMMC with an IDENTICAL specification from AWS they would cost me getting on for double the price!!!

Hi vw,

Give AWS a ring and ask to speak to Nick. He's more than willing to do phone orders or e-mail orders. I e-mailed him my exact spec of racing and marshal ovies and he just rang me for the C-Card details. He was even good enough to bring my marshals ovies to the Autosnort show for collection in order to save me on the postage. Honestly couldn't be happier with the product. Oh if your a BMMC member they also do the special deal for marshals so be sure to ask about that too! Details here!

Try the VSCC web site, The probans are the cheapest I could find and service was second to none. They also look alot better than the others on sale. Don't worry about not being a member of the VSCC. I have never done a meeting.

I've had proban ovies from H T Hughes and now have a custom sized pair from AWS, AWS were considerably quicker in responding to queries and pricing / delivery of this custom set.

In terms of quality, the AWS set seem to be of heavier cloth although it's been a couple of years since my last Hughes set.

I sell them as well, but only the best.
Hence AWS.

Just ordered my new pair from AWS - done in two minutes.
A little more expensive than the BMMC website suggests, but on closer inspection, it does say that prices are held til end of 2006.

My first set were from BARC, they lasted a good 10ish years, then the crutch gave out!

AWS were then recommended to me as they do 'girl' sized probans. (We need more room in certain places, boys! Hips and the bumpy bits at the front!)
They make the BARC ones feel like a sack, I love my AWS ones!

If you buy the basic overals they don't have the leg pockets, and that is what the BMMC offer is priced on as well.

nor do they have access to trouser pockets or zips to stop contents falling out when you bending over attending an incident, all items that used to be part of the standard BMMC supplied overalls! you can get them as 'extras' on the AWS overalls but the cost rises dramatically! I know-- I've enquired.

Unfortunately, whoever you buy from, once you deviate from the standard product the price is going to rise; it's as quick to set up a batch of 100 or more as it is to set up a one-off.

I asked H T Hughes about supplying a set of overalls to the old BMMC spec - the answer was that it would be well over £100 - & that's for an existing design!

I've ordered from Sparx Racewear:

http://www.sparxracewear.com/2042/frames.php

With extras it's going to cost me £87.53, delivered (the basic garment is £45 + VAT & delivery). For that I'm getting a top quality product with the features I want - side access, zipped top pocket, A5-sized leg pocket, pen pocket, radio loop, proper epaulettes (not just a strip of black cloth sewn onto the shoulders!), in fact everythiing the old BMMC overalls had....they are even sewing my BMMC 50th anniversary badge onto the the top pocket for me!

Now, all the cheapskates will be holding their hands up in horror at the price; if price were the only criterion in life we'd all be driving Hyundais! (No offence intended to Hyundai driivers!)

I had the very first pair of AWS BMMC overals, and they don't have velcro or zippered side pockets. I have not had a problem with losing money or anything else from the pockets so they can't be that bad.

Mine are ordered, so we'll see. My old RAC AWS ones lacked pocket closures and I did once donate my wallet, whistle and a couple of pens to a driver who thought I was contributing to his repair fund. Fortunately I was quicker than he was. I may be adding velcro and such like once they're received. I did like the design of the old BMMC ones and would be happy if the basic style of pockets could be adopted by AWS. I've never met anyone who wasn't happy with them.

I'm new to this marshalling lark...

I want to get a set of probans, which ones are best? (and cheapest....think poor student levels)
