Ford GT GT3

According to DSC the PSI team is looking at running a 3 car team of Ford GT GT3 spec cars in next years FIA GT3 Championship. Great news i'm sure you'll agree.

Interesting move from PSI. After Rollcentre (Mosler) and Apex (Jaguar) another company which has interest in developing a GT3.

BTW A few days ago the production of the GT has ended.

The series will be easily over subscribed if all of the above mentioned programmes come through. A change in weekend format will surely have to come in. Qualifying races maybe? (very speculative I know)

- British GT will be GT3 (or at least have a GT3 class) next year.
- There a are plans for a German GT3 championship.
- Maybe Belcar will switch to GT3 format.

So besides FIA GT3 Stephane Ratel wants GT3 to expand to national championships.

The series certainly seems to be expanding very quickly

The Australian GT series is going to phase in the GT3 regualtions over the next couple of years whilst the series is still building up.

PSI keep those 'Vettes too for LMS and FFSA (not sure about that FFSA) 2007? That Ford GT would go to BelCar too, i think they are gonna race with GT2 and GT3 cars in BelCar next year. No more Porsches for PSI?

My worry about GT3 was the lack of variety, but it seems a few interesting cars are arriving.

Indeed a field with only Porsche, Corvette, Dodge, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Ascari and Maserari lacks variety...

Venturi are around somewhere and not forgetting Lotus saying they want to be in FIA GT3 next season.

Current GT3 cars:
Aston Martin
Ferrari
Porsche
Dodge
Corvette
Ascari
Lamborghini
Maserati
Lotus
Venturi(kinda')

To come:
Mosler
Ford
Jaguar

So 13 manufacturers for next season with potentially more in the pipeline.

Spyker

BMW
But we all know the slower cars will be ditched after this first season unless the cars have perfomance balancing.

GT3 is performance balacing only, nothing else.
But its a problem that the Porsche GT3 are the benchmark cars but they are not able to be fast. FIA/SRO have to work on the balacing in the winter, the 2 days last year wasnt very good.
Also its not ok for me that the cars are updated so much, like the front of the DBR9S

I watched highlights of both Dijon races on youtube; looks like a pretty fun little championship. However, it was 1hour of racing compressed into 10 minutes of highlights, so of course it looks exciting. This series reminds me of World Challenge GT over here.

Been ages since I've written here, been on holiday, and not even got a phone line at home anymore until finished moving house!

Anyway, to business - hasn't a Porsche won the championship this year? Means if they're not stunningly fast then they're consistent enough. Good to see such a variety - I originally had fears that the class might have turned into another Porsche-fest if the 997 had been as dominant as the 996 in the GT2 class. That wouldn't happen anyway due to the balancing, but I did have the original fear.

It's off-topic a little, but any ideas on who'll be in GT3 in Britain next year? I'd love to see a couple of Vipers, Maseratis and Lambo's gracing the grids there in '07, particularly so if GT2 is doomed in the UK...

Give me an hour and then read what Mr Ratel himself has to say on dsc - There is a surprise or two on the FIA GT3 front!

First part already done - FIA GT1 and GT2
