Britain's Oldest Marshal
I was talking to Don Hall yesterday and he told me he is 81 next week. He still flags at most Oulton meetings. That led me to think, is he the oldest active marshal in the country?

Been doing it so long at Oulton he even has a corner named after him! (Cue age discrimination comments)
Seriously, if I have all my wits about me at 81 I will be pleased never mind going marshaling. Well done that man. |

There's Stan Hunt who has a post named after him at Gurston (Stanley's). We gave him that about ten years ago for 50 years on the bank. Wonder if he's a contender?

Depends what duties are acceptable to describe "marshalling".
At Silverstone last weekend we had Jack Jones (previously an observer) who still does paddock duties helping Scruts line up cars and he's mid 80s. Then, again at Silverstone, Liz Zettl was on the telephones and she is very late 80s. |
