Novelty Designs

Circuits which have a themed layout but probably wouldn't work for actually racing on.

This is based on a silhouette of a Formula BMW

you want us to post tracks that look good but wouldn't really make it?

that track looks okay acctually but i would make the corners more curved, rather that having straight lines.

Well it is an F BMW car track (by that I mean shaped like one) and it is very accurate to the shape, good.

The idea came to me after discussions with a friend over the new Donington Logo...we agree that it is awful, their old one was made up of the circuit with artistic license formed into a motorbike rider.

My idea was to keep the designs loosely motorsport related...The first posting was taking this to extreme.

That novelty track idea might become a reality someday, since most sports stadiums these days are named after sponsors, so why not construct a race track with the shape of the logo of the sponsor? I'm not talking about a Ford-shaped oval here, but I tried that in my own track designer heyday in the early 90s with a ficticious club circuit for a ficticious club whose logo consisted of a pig's head. Tracks like this might be built someday.

One such track featured in the advertising on the back of the F3/GT package programmes the other year (and possibly elsewhere). It was a track in the shape of the Jaguar logo.

Yeah, wasn't there a track "Sunob" (reverse) designed in the shape of an F1 car on the original PS2 F1 games?

Also, Spa looks like some form of weaponry - and Monza is a boot.

Yeah, that was on the very first F1 game! On the PS1.....ah, great days.

Spa is an Uzi!

Best not to comment on what Snetterton is, though.....

That was in the '97 F1 game.. 'Twas a great track . Never realised it was designed to resemble a track though..
