con-rod should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I know electric superchargers aren't terribly practical, but assuming they were, what sort of motor would you need to drive one? Would it need to spin at 50000 odd rpm? Can you get motors which spin this fast? Would you need much torque to get enough air in to make it worthwhile?

Any info/advice/directions much appreciated

I doubt that a direct drive system could be developed to turn a supercharger fast enough. It would take too much power to drive one that fast. However a, a 2:1 or 3:1 drive reduction would be more feasible, but still the electric power required to run a motor this hard would be monumental.
