Super Touring Cup
Sounds like we have got a Championship within a Championship for all Super Tourer, WTCC and Seat drivers, which essentially is precisely what we need.
Known as Class B it will cover all Super Tourers that have competed in BTCC, WTCC or any National Touring Car series, also Seat Cupra Cup Cars from 2007 onwards. The format will be 8 races held at the 4 double header weekends at Anglesey, Donington, Silverstone and Brands Hatch. Trophies will be awarded for first, second, third and for the car of the day, points will be counted up over the 8 races and at the end of the season dinner, trophies will be awarded for top three finishes and and award for Team of the season. 2009 will be a great year to launch the new series as the profile of Super Tourer racing will be lifted tremendously by the David Leslie Memorial due to be held in July. This weekend has been left free for those wishing to compete. Having spoken with Nick Eary it sounds like we will establish our own identity under the LMA umbrella with unique livery etc. I would encourage as many ST's, Seats, WTCC etc as possible to join us for the 4 double headers and make the racing a real spectacle. So if know anyone with a car stored away in a garage it's time to dust it off and get it ready. May even end up racing against my old Cavalier. There is still an open opportunity to sponsor the trophies which will get your name emblazoned across them. We as a team fully support this move, what are your thoughts? |

I'm hoping to see the Super Tourers when they hit Brands Hatch next year - I enjoyed the LMA meeting this year and took loads of piccies of the Super Tourers so the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned

that sounds totally hellfire, the scc cars are very fast plus plenty about might get a good grid size. Drooling at the thought of a dozen or more ST cars going down the craners at donny. Any chance if it is a success coming to scotland in 2010, never saw ST cars going down Duffus

Kelvin, I think Formula Saloons reached a point where it had faster cars entering and drivers having to spend lots of money on going faster or buying new cars, so people drifted away.
What we are doing is listening to drivers and offering them a mini series within the main series to make it more cost effective. But, 90% of the LMA Super Tourer Cup drivers competed in Formula Saloons |
