Gulf liveried DP at last GrandAm
The DP in Gulf colours in the last Grand-AM race was apparently driven by Steve McQueen's son.
Does anyone know of where photos of the car might have been posted ?? |

http://www.motorsport.com/photos/sel...GRANDAM&Y=2005 There are some other sites such as grandamerican.com, theracesite.com, and racingfanatics.com that also have photo galleries, but you'll have to weed through all the other photos. Yes, Chad McQueen is one of the drivers for the car. The team's website is http://www.westernesse-racing.com/ and it also has a lot of photos. Last edited by Danske; 9 Apr 2005 at 22:17. |

I wish Belmondo's cars had the orange stripe though. At least he's actually GOT Gulf sponsorship. Chad's livery choice is primarily based on his dad's movie, methinks.

am i right in thinking that the pale blue is Gulf colours, and the orange came from another sponsor...?

I have Gulf sponsorship for this year in UK FF1600 and Chad is running full gulf colours and the orange is part of that branding. I am not sure if he is sponsored or not? The Paul Belmondo deal was a compromise between a number of sponsors. I think it looks nice

The baby blue came from Wilshire Oil, which Gulf acquired in 1960. Orange was always the dominant Gulf colour, and dark blue was the accent.

I had a blue 1973 pPinto that was that color of Blue...
One night when I was drunk, I thought about painting an orange stripe on it like the "Gulf" livery... Then I sobered up and felt that it would be a slap in the face to such a proud racing heritage... Guess Chad didn't feel the same way.... (trust me, I could have been more cruel in this response, but I felt that making comments about anyone else's state of sobriety without knowing them or possibly defaming th4eir character would lack good taste...) |

I seem to recall that the Gulf-sponsored spyder which Derek Bell raced at Le Mans in 1994 (?) was dark blue and orange.
