Gossys 74 Falcon
I couldnt believe my eyes when i saw Gossys and KBs coupe on the telecast. The real one has been lost forever. Does anyone know the history of the coupe, the the paint job is fantastic. For me the good old days are gone but not forgotten.

I couldn't believe my ears. I don't know how it sounded on TV as I haven't watched the telecast yet (taped, as I was at the track), but over the years I'd forgotten how noisy these things were. Same with the '72 Jane Camaro.

Gossy put it together from a shell he bought and all the original XA bits he still had. Well, that's what he said he'd be doing a few months back. Fast work, if that's the case.
Yep, looked and sounded fantastic. Bruce Moxon |

Thanx Bruce, Whilst on the subject of the "Good old days" The Silver Fox Harry Firth who was in the Bob Jane T-Marts tent at the mount is putting together a DVD in conjunction with Chevron regarding the history of his involvement with Holden/Ford.It was a shame observing people walking past his posters for sale that were written in verse, had no idea who he was. Harry hasn't lost any of his wit and is well into his eighties.

Yeah, i went and picked up one of those prints and got it signed. They had Martin de Lang posters of the old Jag, the Camaro and the Torana, brilliant stuff!

The XA looked very nice! |

I look forward to it appearing in a future issue of Aust Muscle Car as a follow-up to their recent article - I also hope it might appear at some more historic meets, I know it is not an original Group C car but surely an exception could be made (assuming here the car is a faithful replica!).

Some interesting info from the ether that is my inbox...
Apparently the original Goss/KB '74 car was sold to longtime privateer (and now boss at Wakefield Park) Garry Willmington - the deal was that Mr Willmington had to retain the original colour scheme for 1975 but from 1976 on wards was allowed to re-paint the car any way he wanted. There is an image of the car Here which shows the car during the August 1976 enduro round held at Oran Park where he ran with Wayne Rogerson for the event. It seems Mr Willmington held on to this car for a few more years, after it was ineligible, but I have been led to believe the shell and everything else is 'no more' |

I understand that the rules for Group C are that a reproduction MAY be allowed under certain circumstances - as long as the original car is no more and so on. So the Goss XA could be a starter. It's a 'new' shell with, as stated above, many of the original bits from the first car.
Which begs the question - did JG keep the 'good bits' when he sold the car to Willmington? Bruce Moxon |

Willmington first raced the ex Goss XA at Oran Park in 1975 it was in the Goss blue but it had a red bonnet instead of the black that Goss had

Wasn't it mentioned in an old edition of AMC that the '74 Bathurst winner had been at a later date stolen by theives and burnt out? Or am i thinking of the Goss Sports Sedan?

The interesting thing when i spoke to Garry about the old girl is that he was buying some wheels of Gossy ( Aungers) remember them! and ending up buying the old girl. Garry has always been approachable and would always make time. Had not seen him for years and caught up with him at Wakefield Park.

I remember many moons ago looking at an XA which the owner claimed to be the car in question (this has been confirmed by others), it was for sale in Collaroy in Sydney, it had been upgraded to XC front and road registered, still had the full cage, seat Etc., basically going for a song, don't know who bought it but I hope they realised what they had

cavvy; thank you for your compliment, the Camaro ran like a 'swiss'watch, we put a lot of pre 'bathurst' prep and double prep into her as I wanted Bob to get that 'lap' in ,for everbodies sake,(three years prep for one lap, stuff the exspense!!!)it was a great weekend, meet so many Camaro fans in the 'meet and greet' at the Bob Jane tent..Moffman; glad you enjoyed your posters,I can assure you Bob enjoyed signing them for you,he was really amazed at the 'great' reaction to the "Carlectable/ZL1 Camaro-model,took 200 to the meet and sold out by Sunday, in talks with Bob,the Camaro (now at the mueseum at Bathurst)may be seen interstate in the 2005 year, glad you all enjoyed the 'OPEN PIPES'regards MJ

I was told my a friend in racing that the 74 car was crushed years ago and all that Goss had to build a replica from was a door.
