Wacky Statistics! -Michael to break a Senna record in Bahrain???
This is a wacky statistic that im sure you've never heard mentioned. I know im just data mining, but being a statistician by trade, i really couldnt help myself. Anyway, for those who are interested, read on.......
Did you know that the last 6 times Michael Schumacher has been on pole he has gone on to win the race?? This has only ever been acomplished 3 times before, but nobody has ever done 7!!!!. Below are the races that have contributed to Michaels current run. 2003 San Marino 2003 Spain 2003 Austria 2003 Italy 2004 Australia 2004 Malaysia Michael Schumacher had done this previously between 2000 and 2001. 2000 Italy 2000 USA 2000 Japan 2000 Malaysia 2001 Australia 2001 Malaysia. The only other person to do this in F1 history is Ayrton Senna during the 1991 season 1991 USA 1991 Brazil 1991 San Marino 1991 Monaco 1991 Hungary 1991 Belgium The next time Michael grabs pole, he will have the opportunity to be the sole owner of this record by winning the grand prix. Look out, you could see history in the making in 7 days time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by z2252314; 28 Mar 2004 at 02:09. |

Another whacky statistic...
Michael could smash another of Senna's record this sunday of winning the most number of Bahrain GP. The current record stands at zero, held by all ex drivers and Montoya/Alonso are seen as the biggest threat. Michael is hoping to add this record to his "only F1 driver to win the first Malaysian GP" as well as a similar record for the first USGP return Haha, now that Michael had won almost all the main records, we really need to dive deep to look for more records to be broken huh? Another record he can take in the near future (though errr not in Bahrain ) is to become the first driver to win 7 Formula 1 Grands Prix at the same circuit.
As of now MS has won 6 times at Magny-Cours, 6 times in Montreal and 6 times at Spa. Senna of course won Monte Carlo 6 times. |

I'm sure he won on every circuit he's raced at. Austria was the last one where he didn't win...

He won at every circuit on the 2003 schedule, but there are others (Kyalami in South Africa, certainly) where he never won. I suspect he does hold the record, but I'd be interested to know for sure.

That's interesting. Look at the circuits which he had won the most times... Monte Carlo, Suzuka, Spa...some of the most challenging races on modern F1 calendar.

Is Schumacher only driver who has won on the all tracks on the season schedule. At least of those having that much races (say 16 or more)
Prost, for example, never won at Hungaroring. Senna didn't have wins in France. |

Let say that he had the best car on the grid most of the time.

But even if MS wins in Bahrain (Bah! rain?) Senna's record still holds as the only one with 6 straight pole-win in the same season...
How many second grid positions converted in race's second positions has Rubens? There must surely have a record somehow |

So Michael's won at 21 different tracks - I doubt anyone else can come close to that. It's amazing that he's only won 5 races in Germany, out of 18 (off the top of my head)

with regards the pole positions-win things.
When Michael did the 6 wins-from-pole CONSECUTIVELY from 200/01 bit, that was an outright record by one race I think? Doesn't really matter much, of course, just out of interest. |

Just for the record, I've heard somewhere... but it's a fact:
Every driver that won the first 2 GPs has been the champion of the season. Uh, oh... here we again. |
