Changes to driver nomination rules ??
From www.worldrallynews.com
It looks like a row may be brewing between the manufacturers around a change in the driver nomination rules for the WRC. Most manufacturers (apart from Peugeot) want the FIA to restrict each team to two drivers, unlike presently when teams can count the points scored by the highest-placed two of three nominated drivers. As only two have to be named for the season, Peugeot has taken the opportunity to switch its third car between Harri Rovanpera and Gilles Panizzi according to the conditions. So unsurprisingly Peugeot are against the change. So is this a case of the rich manipulating the rules or is it all fair in love, war and the WRC. |

Amazingly enough, I don't really have an opinion on this one!
The manufacturers can score their championship however they want... WRC is still more a driver's championship than most any other major venue. |

I'd like to see each manufacturer nominate 3 drivers/cars and each of those score points. I'd also like to see points awarded down to 12th place.

points down to 12th would be fine by me. And if each manufacturer has 3 cars then let them nominate them all. I totally agree

I think the problem is that most teams are only looking to run two cars regularly next year

I think that only 2 nominated cars (nominated prior to the event) can score manufacturers points, but whoever drives the nominated cars does not have to fill that seat all year. I think the tarmac specialists like Panizzi add spark to the championship anyway.
Award points to 10th like they used to. With alot of drivers complaining that 14 events is too much, why not make it drivers can do a maximum of 12, but the teams must do all 14. |
