JLMC 2007 - News & Entrys
It´s been a bit quiet concerning this series - although the last news we heared contained interesting prospects. Maybe someone from the other side of the racing world has heared some additional interesting news or roumors regarding this?
Are there any teams expected which could enter with proper LMP1/2 Machines to spice up the Prototype field? Last Status I heared was that a 4 race schedule was annonced : 13 May, Sugo 3 June, Fuji 22 July, Motegi 27 October, Okayama (I copied this one from Mariantic) |

Do the winners of each category in the JLMC get direct entries for Le Mans in 2008?

I think that was the plan but only if they have ACO rule-compliant cars. (And no, let's not start another Vitaphone thread...)

Fair? Of course its fair. As things stand there are too many teams trying to get places in the LMS and not enough space, the JLMC is a 4 round Championship, now Im sure that a good team with contacts in Japan could arrange to run their cars in the JLMC and work in conjunction with a Japaneese team, or perhaps just store the equipment somewhere in Japan and fly the team out for the races. Why would a team want to do this? Well if there was automatic entries for Le Mans up for grabs it would surley be a tempting choice, especially when you look at the level of competition in the JLMC at the moment.

Its about as fair as P1 and GT1 runners from the ALMS getting automatic entry. I have no problem with it as long as the teams are professional and competitive...

www.dailysportscar.com are today reporting that a new 2007 spec Ferrari 430 is on its way to the JLMC although team details are unknown. More good news for the JLMC, they must be getting something like a half decent entry list by now.

Kosho Ito (JLMC SERO organization) replied me that until the test of 2nd April they cannot give a provisional entry list.
The definitive entry list is expected for the middle of April. The only infos given was: <<It is planned to approve not only gasoline engine, but also diesel and bio-ethanol engine>> and the confirmed schedule: Schedule: 1st: 12-13 May Sport land SUGO 2nd: 2-3 June Fuji Speedway 3rd: 21-22 July Twin Ring MOTEGI 4th: 27-28 Oct Okayama International circuit :-| |

Apparently they're not running their two 360s in the SuperGT series this year. Whether this means they're upgrading and switching to JLMC, who knows?

Upgrading from Super GT spec to ACO spec? - I think you mean downgrading.
With Super GT so popular how far can the JLMC go? Mugen Courage is data gathering for the works Honda LMP1 effort I suspect. Wonder if the Mugen PUES hybrid will race? Wonder if a bunch of closed wheel F3 cars will top up the grid? bit of a comparison from Okayama - LMP1 - Zytek - 1m20.251 LMP2 - not recorded GC21 not real P2 GT1 - Mosler - 1.33.685 GT2 - Porsche 911 RSR - 1.32.821 GT500 - Dome Honda NSX - 1.24.043 GT300 - 1.30.664 Super GT cars should be allowed at Le Mans - GT500 in LMP2 and GT300 in GT1 |

I believe the Mosler used in JLMC was a former GT300 spec car, so that should show you the difference between GT1/GT2 and GT500/GT300.

The official SuperGT entry list has Jim Gainer running a single 360. Not sure if this goes for or against them receiving the F430.

A 360 to compete in Super GT and a 430 to qualify for LM in the JLMS?
Maybe.. |

The 360 is not competitive in GT300. The better option in my opinion is to run the 430 in GT300 and the 360 in JLMC.

Nah, the better option is to run the 360 and 430 in the JLMC and neither in Super GT. IMO of course.

Seriously, though, "pure" GT2 cars can't race competitively in GT300. Even the lower class is taylored so the purpose-built V6-powered Toyota MRs, the non-homologated Vemacs and a Daytona Prototype modified by a Japanese tuning company win. Mmm, do I sound paranoid? |
