Junior junior Johnson

IT’S A BOY FOR STEVE JOHNSON
V8 Supercar star Steve Johnson has become a father.

Johnson’s partner Bree gave birth to the couple’s first child at 8.57pm on Monday night after an 11 hour labour.

Named Jett Richard Johnson, the new addition to the family weighed in at six pounds 15 ounces (3.14kgs) and was 50 centimetres long.

“The birth was the most amazing experience, I’ve definitely never experienced anything like it,” an emotionally drained Steve Johnson said.

“It was such a long process, we got to the hospital at 6am on Monday morning, Bree went into labour at 10am and 11 hours later I had a son.

“Bree was unreal; she’s well but tired. I’ve definitely got a better appreciation for her and what women go through.”

Already Johnson understands the delights and nervousness of being a parent.

“I sit there and just look at him, sometimes for hours and I never get bored,” Johnson said.

“The amount of love you have for your child straight away is unbelievable.

“There were a couple of minor complications during the birth and as soon as Jett arrived I wanted to protect him straight away.

“I think I have a new appreciation for my parents as well, it must have been difficult for them during times of my life, I understand that now.

“But I’m so happy, just so happy, it’s absolutely amazing.”
