Becoming Orange

Just thought I'd say hi I was directed over here after a thread I started on Pistonheads.

I've been thinking of getting involved in marshaling for a long time and finally decided to sign up for the training day Oulton in Feb. I've already read a lot of your responses to previous newbies, so most of my questions have been answered already!

Just looking forward to getting my first taste of what's involved. Do feel ever so slightly nervous though, which is not like me!

Welcome

If you don't want to wait that long, then perhaps you might consider coming to Mallory Park on boxing day

I'll see you there I can still remember my first training sessions and first day as a marshal. I was pretty nervous too but the people i was with helped me understand what was going on and 6 years later i'm still turning up and still enjoying it as much as ever.

No chance on Boxing Day I'm afraid, my life isn't worth it. Appreciate the warm welcome though

Thought of a question! Is there much call for marshals during the week. Maybe at track days or testing? Because I work shifts I get quite a lot of week days off.

Rockingham used to advertise for midweek marshals for trackdays. Think they paid about £60. But most trackdays & test sessions are covered by permanent circuit staff. Someone else on here might have some more info though?

And hello & welcome to tenths!

Hi bluest and welcome to the gang.

If any of those threads you've read haven't given you the answer to a query, don't be afraid to post up and ask. There's loads of helpful folk on here who'll be back with an answer in no time at all.

The best answer I can give about weekday/trackday/testday marshaling is to maybe phone the circuit (Oulton/Anglesey if those are the two you were thinking of) and ask what the score is. There are marshals on here who do the weekday stuff so I'm hoping they'll pop on and help you out.

Hi Bluest and welcome to ten-tenths and the world of marshalling. Nervousness is quite normal but don't worry, you will be made very welcome at training day and also at all circuits. We are a small and friendly bunch of like minded people so put your worries in the bag and go and enjoy yourself...

Welcome to the world of orange, bluest.

I'll be at the training day in Feb (and my dad is on trainee slot).

As others have said the only daft question is the one you don't ask

Welcome to the mad world of orange (or any other colour worn at other circuits)

As had been said before dont be afraid to ask the questions, it's the best way to check something out before you do it

See you at Oulton Park in Feb

Richard

Welcome Bluest, only recently joined the Tango army myself - but what a great bunch they are! See you at Oulton in February for training and on the bank for the rest of the season. Enjoy!
