Brands 6/7 sept 4 Hr Race?
Just seen the provisional timetable for Brands this weekend where I shall be playing. There's a 4 hour Uniroyal VW race on Sat pm, and that's only after a 60 min qualifying session in the morning!
Anyone seen one of these before and will I be able to stay awake? |

I can only tell you what others have told me about this series!
Usually the grid are quite small - which makes for a very boring race. I've also heard that there were 30 or so cars for their round at Rockingham! So it really depends on the number of cars! Mark |

Speaking from experience they will bore you senseless!! It's the only championship that I would rather not marshal at.
Mind you there were only about 14 cars, I also hear that things have improved and there are a few more now. |

I did the snet race (with roots) in UTC and there is some really good dicing as they are totally even cars. Roots would keep you entertained but.... we are not racing - unless anyone wants to pay for our race

I think unfortunately Brands are going to be desperately short on Sat what with all the other meetings especially Goodwood, and there are an awful lot of marshals that won't do these races - not vecause of anything against the drivers - but they are long races.
I did it last year at Brands for a 3 hour race. We started with 16 and finished with 11. It was Ok - but I was observing and flagging and so had several things to do at once to keep me occupied!! I totally agree with observer - it depends on the grid number. If there are about 30 cars - it should be OK - but I believe the norm is about 16 - so..... |

Well if there's so much else going on, maybe we'll be short staffed and I'll be doing everything to keep me occupied!

So, how many cars did you end up with on the grid and was the day a success?

19 cars started - 19 cars finished. The CoC phoned all posts after 3 hours to ask us to blue flag, I think it was just to wake us up. This is one meeting that I will not be doing next year.

Kept being woken up by the safety car. Had a good 3 hour sleep in the middle though. We did get delivered some cake though!

Last year at Silverstone there was a 6 Hour race with over 30 cars, it was excellent with right up to the last 1/2 hour several cars fighting for the lead...

the only reason you had big grids of this dire VW Uni series was invites to the European version were sent. I believe Spa do well with this series with about 100 entries. Sorry it does not work in the UK at the moment.
