2011-2012 Winter/Off Season Races/Misc Stuff Thread
Here is a place to post random stockcar, modified or whatever events that are happening during "off season" or anything else...
I'll start. Heard about this on the radio this morning: 44th Annual Snowball Derby won by Chase Elliott, the youngest ever to take the event by the closest margin of victory ever. Former winners include DW, Donnie Allison, Kyle, Jody Ridley, and many other "big time" short trackers. http://5flagsspeedway.com/2011/12/04...youngest-ever/ The driver looks half the age of Ms 5 Flags Raceway. Another good read about "THE Kid". http://chaseelliott.com/blog/?p=128 |

Can't find a really good link on this but this is one reason I dig Smoke; not only is he a plus size guy who doesn't like to shave (like myself), he races in just about anything, anywhere, anytime he can:
Rumble Racing Series Facebook Page Tony won the Rumble in Fort Wayne at the Memorial Coliseum Expo Center after holding off teammate, Mike Fedorcak in the closing laps. |

Unfortunately (well, fortunately really) I don't live in the mid-west, where this type of racing is most popular. I would think that it is a similar event to the Chilli Bowl and Turkey bowl, etc....arena short track racing. Would LOVE to see something like this, but can't see myself heading the Fort Wayne in the late fall.

A real 800 bhp winged sprint car?
Really ashame we don't have dirt sprint car and late model racing in Europe. It's the best form of oval racing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPp8GMk-f1Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66YUQ-KYvnY Last edited by FIRE; 13 Dec 2011 at 21:06. |

A real winged Sprint Car, only 500bhp though, It is an Eagle chassis and is set up to race on tarmac like the Must See Xtreme series in America. Which, by the way, you must see!

Yes Minicross. And yes Fire, it is the UK series, although I am not sure why you think they're not real Sprint Cars.

Last year we had a short discussion about the UK series here on 10-10s. I remember something about not real Sprint Cars. But in the meantime I looked on uksprintcars.co.uk and they are the real deal (probably except for the engines).

Oh ok. Engines are sbc and are pretty much free tuning wise, except it has to pull all it's air through a 650 cfm carb.

I assume these cars are due to the power - wheel base ratio difficult to drive.
