Les should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Rumours!

Heard two bits of gossip today which made we wonder if anyone else has heard anyting.

1) Rockingham has gone bust. Oh well I suppose Octagon will just step in there

2) Vauxhall are attempting to set up an 'Astra' series. Ummm the Vectra challenge was good, Astra challenge could be as well and with the Fiestas dying we need another one make series.

If they buy Rockingham then, for major racing events, all they need is Donington's MotoGP race, Old Kent Road and a waterworks.....

That'd be alright as long as it keeps standards up across all the circuits. There's still plenty of competition from other sports and leisure attractions to keep them on their toes though. It is a shame that Rockingham couldn't survive on its own, and doesn't bode well for any other new tracks to be constructed...

I heard a yesterday that Alan Blencowe from the Fiesta Zetec-S Championship, may have got himself a drive in an Alfa in BTC-P Class for 2002! Anyone else heard anything?.

From Blencowe's own website:
'Alan Blencowe is please to announce that on October 21st
he will be competing in the 10th and final round of this year's
Super Production Class of the European Touring Car Championship.

He'll be driving a G. A. Motorsport prepared Alpha Romeo 156,
as contested in this year's British Touring Car Championship.'

Has Gavin Pyper lost his seat?

Hmmm, I can't see Octagon wanting to buy Rockingham somehow. With the DTI or whoever already looking into them buying Silverstone, then it doesn't make any sense to buy Rockingham.

I had said in another thread somewhere that it didn't surprise me if they have gone bust. Ticket sales for the CART race were way below expectations and how were they going to fund the enormous cost of building such a track from scratch? Someone mentioned Japanese Bank Nomura as the main creditors?
