Here's a good discount code:

"DONTGO"

That will save you loads.

yes ive used that code for a few years now but i'm on the prowl for go faster bits, so have an actual need to do my motorsport shopping under one roof, so willing to suffer the crowds of blokes perving over surprisingly unattractive girls in lycra...

Someone said 5MSA worked for them.

If you are a BRSCC member you can get free tickets from them.

Last went in 2008.At one time you could get a ticket for friday now this seems to be 'trade' only? No transport on sunday so sat.is only day I could go-last time I almost passed out due to the overcrowding.

Got fed up with being stuck behind long queues of students trying to get sponsorship/freebies/jobs/etc on trade days and stuck behind long queues of timewasters at the weekend and when you finally get to talk to someone being treated like dirt because you aren't running half a dozen cars in a big high profile championship.

Just print out the shows contact details of new companies and send them an email, if they can't be bothered to reply then it's their loss, clearly they already earn too much money now and will continue to do so in the future and never need mine.

I think I last went in about 2002. They used to offer a seperate ticket for the exhibition and the live show. Now they are "bundled" together and I have little interest in the live show. So the fact it now costs over 30 quid to attend, i'd rather go to another race meeting (or two) in the year. It costs far too much in my view, £10-15 and i'd be there.

It is a strange policy they have with pricing

There must be some reason why Haymarket think that charing more than pretty much any other race meeting you will ever go to is fair pricing.

I guess they dont want punters there as it is a trade show, but charging that much and not having an opt out is crazy

Especially when it will cost you a tenner to park aswell.

Getting as bad as Silverstone....

I can concede it is a big site, but they are the ones providing the buses, and you do not have to use them do you, but are seemingly paying for them whether you do or not.

It is dearer than most rail stattion daily charges for goodness sake

No wonder a lot of shows do not use the place anymore, it is surely only really worth going if you are in a group, but thn if you are you are making Haymarket over a hundred quid.

Just best to leave well alone sadly, or go on the train, as if that is likely to be less expensive! lol

That's what we thought - until we looked at the train ticket prices far cheaper for 2 of us to share a car than go on the train.

I don't think the live show is included in the ticket price - it hasn't been for the last couple of years on the Thursday or Friday anyway.

Go to RaceRetro instead.

Much less hassle and more interesting and affordable.

Parking is set by the NEC, and for ASI is 10 quid.

The parking charges go towards providing the free bus service, I usually end up so close that no bus is run to my car park but still quite a walk, so I pay towards the bus service I have never used.

Seems a shocker whichever way you might want to go doesn't it.

Such a shame, the opportunity is there to have a simply amazing show, we are the cornerstone of world motorsport, and this is as good as it gets off season, pathetic really.

A group of people (who let it be said publish a lot of motorsport copy) who have no passion for anything other then their own pockets trying to grab yet more money, I thought football clubs and supporters were bad, but this rivals some of the stuff that goes on there.

You don't have to go obviously, as with footy, but think what they could do and offer were it not for such plain greed. You could try karts, have a go at marshalling somehow, try timing, sit in a few cars, all these things in a nice warm place, with a captive audience...

You know what it reminds me of? 9 quid for a Burger King on a motorway, when you can buy the same thing in a town nearby for a fiver.

Every year for the last four or five I've said "I'm not going", but just before Xmas I sign up for a ticket!! Usually because there's something or someone I want to see. The "show" part has not interest for me - that's for the poster collectors at the weekend. I'm going to the engineering section of the show because I need a few bits, and I can go there, wade though the school kids, and hopefully get the info I want first hand from someone who actually knows about it!!

It has it's social side, where I get to see some old faces and catch up on the gossip!

So, I'll be there in the morning, bright and early!

In fact, I think the show was better when it was at Olympia. Now that's one I always used to attend via the train. The best way. Car Parking back then was something like £20 for the day at the on-site car park!! How many years ago was that!.

If you think attending as a punter is bad, try exhibiting! The stand price is in the £000s and if you want essentials like electricity or light you are well and truly shafted. Then with the hordes of non-racers coming in, if you are a driver-centred specialist like us something like 75%+ of the attendees are of no interest whatsoever.

Having said that, we are exhibiting this year! We are sharing a stand with an industry colleague in the Oval section which is just Saturday and Sunday and has only cost me a fraction of the main show. If you're there come and say hello, it will be nice to see some friendly faces. I'll have my Attaq Motorsport banners up which you can use as navigation.

Race Retro is better to go round, but it's still an arm and a leg for us. These shows certainly know how to charge and are one reason you don't get the ballistic deals these days. The organisers seem to forget that we, the traders, need to make a profit and without us there's no show!

Interesting point midget about RR show.

And one that needs making more, as you say if people don't show up there is no show, the venue is OK rather than amazing, and lets face it the trade stuff out back has more in common with autojumbles than anything else, a lot of it is cheap tat.

I would rather see a cheaper price than see Moss/Parrish/Whizzo/usual crew trotted out as the highlight year in year out, am getting rather sick and tired of Moss to be honest.

Never ceases to amaze me how people are taken for granted in the off season instead of using it as a real opportunity to stoke interest.

I will never forgive the PR folk at RR for not refunding me a ticket when I won a competition on here, they just wouldn't send me money to cover the price as the ticket wasnt sent, was pathetic listening to the excuse, all over 20 odd quid. Said they would send me one to the NEC show later, did I receive it? Of course not. Woeful PR.

My support for the event was lost from that day sadly, though I still enjoy the rally stages bit when I do go.

Whilst I agree with most of the comments, the football comparison hit home. I'd rather spend a day at Autosport rather than go to a football match. They're pretty similar costwise.
