Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge
Yes, the Conti Challenge is also now a SportsCar series.
2014 calendar: Jan 24 - Daytona Mar 14 - Sebring May 3 - Laguna Seca May 24 - Lime Rock (feature) Jun 7 - Kansas Jun 28 - Watkins Glen Jul 12 - Mosport Park Jul 25 - Indianapolis Aug 9 - Road America Aug 23 - Virginia Sep 20 - Austin Oct 3 - Road Atlanta All races but Lime Rock are supporting the United SportsCar Championship. The only missing races are Long Beach and Detroit (where SCCA World Challenge are included), so there's no street races. |

And somehow they will be able to run a field larger than 60 cars at Daytona. With pitstops and driver changes.
I'm really looking forward to seeing them at Sebring since the support races have been a little lacking after PWC stopped running there. |

Turn Three and Turn Seven at Sebring better have extra tow vehicles on hand if 60 CTSCC cars are going to race there. I imagine more than a few things will happen.
That could be the race of the weekend--certainly the best support race of the weekend. |

Thank you for starting this thread. For some reason, I couldn't find one for 2013. Does anyone know what new cars will be added for 2014?
During the Lime Rock broadcast, the Mazda official mentioned that they want to get the new Mazda3 to enter the ST series. What about Subaru BRZ? The car seems to be well matched against Mazda's MX-5. It could have been an interesting battle. |

I'd prefer the Impreza STI in ST, and the BRZ in GS.

I am not sure how they're gonna race the BRZ in the GS class with its tiny naturally aspirated engine. In real life, a lot magazines tracked BRZ as well as Mazda MX-5, and Honda Civic SI. They're pretty close. BRZ loses out on the factory tires, but gets a lot better with good aftermarket tires. It would fit well in the ST class, and all the ricers would start watching Conti Tire series ;p |

The GT86 races at the GTS class of the SCCA WOrld Challenge. They installed a turbocharger.

I've always wondered how the Mazdaspeed3 is balanced to the 200 HP Civic Si that seems to dominate ST.

Hi guys, I've watched from the sideline for years, but since this is right up my alley I figured I'd post.
The STi in GS. 10 years ago the STi was a competitor to the Camaro, Mustang, M3, etc, but now really has to stretch to compete. Think about it, the STi has stayed at 300 hp while everything else has jumped into the 400-450 range, so that makes it a competitor to the V6 camaros now. Yeah we made it work, but with an aftermarket turbo and a lot of boost, and lots of engine changes. On the BRZ/Scion in GTS and thus should be in GS. WC let them put a supercharging system that is installed at or after the dealer. The car really belongs in WC TC, and GA ST, but with only putting 150hp stock to the wheels, it needs a lot of help. I believe Continental Tire series does not allow this sort of modification. What I heard on tv the regulation is "showroom stock". No changes to chassis, no changes to engine block, no engine head mods. Intake, exhaust, and fuel system mods as well as engine tune are allowed, as well as (I assume) brakes and suspension. The Civic SI race car should have more horsepower than 200. The intake, exhaust, plus engine tune should give it more HP IMO. Last edited by JacobP; 17 Oct 2013 at 04:30. |

Here is a nice video about how they build Pirelli World Challenge and Grand Am Civics. The claim is that the HPD engine has 20-25% more power than the street engine:

Did you think that only IndyCar and North American endurance racing had their history rewritten? Well, the Conti Challenge joins them:

However, you can see that they pretty much stripped everything from the chassis almost to the last bolt and then rebuilt it. While they can't mess with the engine or chassis much, they replaced a lot of minor parts in the process, such as various bushings (shown in the video). The took out the stock engine and replaced it with another unit from HPD. While the engine block and head may be stock, the engine was probably manually rebuilt with better parts. For example, they probably put in better head gaskets, wires, pulleys, bearings, cylinder rings, and so on. Nonetheless, the Continental cars are clearly stock, just not "showroom or dealership stock". I found a PDF file which show the modifications that are permitted: http://www.grand-am.com/Portals/0/Im...013%20Text.pdf Pretty interesting stuff. The Continental Tire specifications follow past the page 140. Last edited by JacobP; 31 Oct 2013 at 06:58. |

Thats the GTD Z4 livery I did. The CTSCC cars remain as per the ROAR test, largely the same as'13 There will be a CTSCC Spotters Guide as part of the IMSA Fan Guide which will be produced for each race, available online and at the circuit |

Good news! Between the CTSCC and TUSC spotters guides, that's probably going to be about 140 cars!
