I hadnt realised lemarie is 34 years old!

I thought a young gun may have got the drive or some one with a decent pedigree. I guess its the Pollock/lemarie relationship in its not what you know, its who you know!

Betcha he'll be pretty good.

No word on sponsors or chassis? And who are "Torchia Communications"? Is it a Kalkhoven-owned business, or perhaps a sponsor? Never heard of them.

They'll be running a Lola. No surprise there. #27.

Chassis is a Lola. Don't know where from (ex-Rahal?, ex-Ganassi via Forsythe? a new '03?). Car will wear #27. No Sponsor.

Why boo? Chris Pook did say 'expect signings of European and Latin drivers.' He said that is what he would do, and that is what he has done.

because Lemarie sucks and doesnt have a CV to warrant even a test in CART.

By my records he hasnt won a race between Formula Ford in 1991 and a 2001 ELMS victory in the Johanasson R8

Wow, if we can get a number of latin drivers, maybe we can get the Pope to sign on as sponsor.

Wasn't he French F3 champion a few years back?

Lemarie is a better choice than Mika Salo, who drives like an old woman.

hakkiman: he competed in French F3, that's it. No championships, not even wins it seems.

his best result is a 2nd place in a Toyota Atlantic race in 1993. He had 3 wins in Formula Ford in 1991 then his ELMS win in the Johansson R8 in 01

Lemarie's been testing BAR's for a couple years now. Very valued by Villenueve. Excellent choice IMO.

¡As-de-mim!,

We have 13 drivers confirmed, 10 of whom fit the Latin & European profile Pook wants; Lemarié, Camathais and Servia are both. The next three will all be Latins (Bourdais - also European, Moreno, and I presume LavÃ*n).

Sponsors?

Why just ask Liz. According to her, although heavy wieght big shots like Carl Haas and Craig Pollock cannot find them, all that is keeping Memo Gidley from being in CART is his own personal failure to just ask for it 24-7 from every company in the country. It certainly isn't a conceptual failure with CART's business model.

Yes, Fench is a Latin language ... it just doesn't seem like it.

Yeah, but I could have won driving that R8. Providing I wasn't punted off the course.

(Ok, maybe not.)

sgw2,
Makes sense, since Bernie is moving F1 outside of Europe, with Spa, Austria, etc. losing races.

You're joking right? The only reason he so much as saw an F1 car is because of Jacques Villeneuve. BAR sacked the guy who had helped develop the Williams-Renault in favor of JV's friend.

Lemarie was sacked the day pollock left B.A.R. Dave Richards knew he was **** as he struggled to lap within two seconds of the likes of Darren Manning and Anthony Davidson.

Well i suppose its another one for the back of the grid.

Lame!

I wouldn't trust Pollack to buy groceries, the man's totally incompetent.

Let's give him a chance and see how he runs before we write him off as hopeless. At least I've heard of this bloke, unlike Lavin etc

Well I haven't.

And from a personal standpoint, French drivers do _nothing_ for me (Alesi being the sole exception).

This should have been Anthony Davidson's seat.

I've never seen the guy race, so I'm not going to talk about his prowess..

Russfeld, who's the guy that helped develop the Williams-Renault and that was sacked by BAR?
