Mercedes, got both drivers on the podium after some clever brake management.

Mercedes really steps up this year. Just look at Australia, Canada and now Singapore. Definitely team of the race.

No particular team stands out. I chose Red Bull because I'm fed up with choosing Mercedes, and they did pretty well.

While Mercedes had good results, they clearly got something wrong with the brake setup with both cars. Without knowing details I would guess the cooling setup was underpar. So I can't give it to Mercedes.
Ferrari did well with inspiring drives from Kimi as well as a great run by Seb. But then you have to ask why did Sebastian start in 22nd? While anyone can have mechanical issues, I tend to feel I can't reward Ferrari for whatever issue they had during qualifying. So I tend to want to give this to Red Bull. It was a great drive by Ricciardo and as best as I can tell a very professional (!) drive by Verstappen. I can't remember much in the way of team drama during the weekend, so I give it to Red Bull. While it turned out OK in the end, I think they likely messed up by not bringing Nico in for new tires late in the race. I think Nico said post race somewhere (podium?) that if they had brought him in that he would have been stuck in traffic. So I don't know if that is a good cover for what they did (or rather didn't do) or... the truth. Honestly I don't care. I am currently pulling for Nico, so I am glad he won and took points from Hamilton. If you see my comments in the driver's thread, I praise Nico for handling that situation well. Worn tires, apparently hot brakes and a closing Red Bull that was projected to catch him with enough time to make a pass attempt. He seemed to run slower laps time to preserve both the brakes and tires and then use that reserve to maintain a gap at the end. Lots of pressure to get it right and on a circuit that is not forgiving! Richard |

Red Bull for their performance in qualifying and they very nearly had a victory here.
