Spyker Exhaust
Would someone take a good look at the profile of the Spyker (go on it won't bite you) and tell me if it looks to you as if the exhaust pipes are pointing forward?

Can't find a decent picture of the exhaust, but think Liz is right. They point forward.

I can't post pictures. But if you will go here:
http://www.maisonblanche.co.uk/02testwp.html and look at the bottom left photo it is a profile of the Spyker and seems to clearly show this extraordinary feature. Doesn't seem to me as if it'd work that way. |

From a complete technical dunce:
Are you sure they aren't air intakes for cooling the engine? |

The features on the side of the car are all air intakes whether for the engine or rear brakes...

Placement reminds me of the 935-k4 that was just posted by cybersdorf in the Name that Car thread. I'd say brake duct.

Go to amazing43.com and look at the Le Mans test day feature (Part III) You will see the Spyker in its underwear. Quite clearly the exhausts are exiting at the back.

Sent a mail to Spyker, let's hear the official statement about the function of these "things".

I had a good look at the road cars at PQ and their exhausts all exit at the back. I'm quite sure the ducts in the pic are not exhausts. I'd go for engine cooling.

I don't know about engine cooling - why duct that air so far back when you could put rads right at the intake? (This car isn't air-cooled, is it?)
I'd still go for brake cooling. You can see where the air is channelled from the lower intake scoop, up to join the air from the upper intake, and then it looks like it doesn't go anywhere - I'd guess it's supposed to stay in the wheelwells. Why does it have an IMSA sticker? |

Got a reply today from Spyker's Production department, that it's a combination of a brake-duct and an engine air intake. So you were all a bit right...
