the Friday race is not live on ESPN for some reason, just as well some of us has a legal way to watch this via the main web site. i wonder if the rain might be in play (after all, it is Spa and rain sometimes comes in to the mix)

An FIA sanctioned racing category, clashes with F1 and the WRC this weekend.
Good work! |

GT1s playing second fiddle to GT2, GT3 and GT4! Just doesn't seem right.

Matteo Bobbi to be replaced by Belgian Nico Verdonk in Triple H Maserati. Hopefully the second Phoenix Corvette will return (its on the official entrylist but who knows if it will be pulled at the last minute)-drivers TBA. At Matech Grosjean and Mutsch have been split with Richard Westbrook with Mutsch and Grosjean driving with Neel Jani. |

Does Spa want the 3 weeks to clean up and prep for F1? Otherwise it would have seemed much smarter to delay a week into the middle of the F1 summer break, and avoid a WRC clash as well. Actually it seems WTCC is also this weekend, and they go on summer break after as well. Maybe the FIA refuses to work for 3 weeks sanctioning anything!

Ah, this makes some sense as well. Actually, a combination of these two theories is probably accurate. The French do love their sacred August break!

Second Phoenix car is back, although only Hezemans is nominated to drive so far. Maassen now gains Jos Menten at Mad-Croc.
Alex Margaritis replaced by Alex Muller at Hegersport. |

I don't know about this second fiddle stuff, that's a fabrication of traditionalist and purist. You believe because the 24hr event belongs to the GT2/GT3/GTN cars that is superior based on length of event, that's ridiculous.
GT1 World is new venture in Sports Cars, I don't know why some fans find that so hard to accept. You can't have it both ways, saying LMS is great because it has 1K/5-6 hour events that get 1-2 hours of on-air tv time and for extra money you can watch via video stream only from Eurosport's web site because of some Rights Agreements. Then turn around and say GT1 is rubbish because its hour long sprint races. I liked the way the SC period flew right at the time pits were open at Brno and that added a NASCAR/ALMS dimension to the series and for once, Vitaphone was not the fastest team out of pit lane it was Matech and they won the race (Race 2). The series can be tweaked; different tire compound, option of changing tires or not, maybe slightly longer event for the Championship Racing since its more points. But just because its present format is sprint, does not make it inferior. Its throughly professional with professional drivers. |

I love the GT1WC, can't understand why some are so against it. For my money, it's provided the most entertaining racing of any series this year, and at the end of the day, isn't that what it's all about?
I've always thought that despite their endurance racing roots, the big GT cars usually provide spectacular racing in shorter races. I used to love British GTs when it had the old school GT1s such as the McLarens and Listers, and the racing was usually good then too. GT1WC has a similar feel to it. |

I concur, GT1 has been a success so far. As I said in a previous topic, once you get past the politics it really is a great series to watch. Sure I may wish they used the new LMGT cars, and yes I would like the races to be extended by 30 minutes or an hour, but the racing is very good. GT racing doesn't have to revolve around Le Mans, look at Super GT in Japan.

I enjoyed the Silverstone weekend. Excellent stuff, and I intend to make the most of a purely spectator weekend at Spa to really revel in Lambos howling off up Kemmel...

From what I can gather, neither tomorrow's qualifying or qualifying race will be streamed on the GT1 website due to "technical difficulties".
Quite what these 'difficulties' are, who knows? |

Corvette fastest in pre-qualifying
If Corvette stays in the series I would like to see someone adapt a GT2 vette to the rules. Well if a GT3 Alpina can go GT1, I can see a GT2 Vette go GT1. *** Also there is nice video here about Blancpain watches. I want one now. |

Hopefully they put the championship race up, I was sorely looking forward to watching one of the GT1 races this weekend. |

Qualifying Race in GT1 is always online, ALWAYS. As far as I know they don't show it on TV. They show highlights of the qualifying race during the run up to the Championship race which is why the TV times I think run just about 2 hours total. While pre-race, race and post race for Qualifying Race runs about 90 mins. All the races back to Dubai are still on the GT1TV side of the web site. All the GT3 races are on the GT3 site going back to the opener at Silverstone. |

Anyone know what these 'technical difficulties' might be? Could it affect coverage of the 24 hours and/or the Championship GT1 race?
