Nashville Race Thread
Dixon on pole, Franchitti second. The championship is turning into a two horse race - especially with the 50/50 road course split in the final half of the season and those two putting it together on the ovals as well.
Passing is supposedly almost impossible on the track this year, so the race will come down to track position and pit strategy. Dixon will be hoping for green flag racing. Pos Driver Team Time 1. Scott Dixon Ganassi 22.8947 2. Dario Franchitti Andretti-Green 22.9555 3. Tony Kanaan Andretti-Green 22.9668 4. Sam Hornish Jr Penske 22.9815 5. Dan Wheldon Ganassi 22.9911 6. Looks like the race has been rained out, at least for today.
Absolutely no hint of any coverage in the UK if the race is run delayed tomorrow. |

I doesn't look good right now, for sure. Being the high-banked concrete oval Nashville is, if it stops raining very soon, the track will drain off pretty quick. One can only hope...

Coverge has ended on Sky Sports but you can still watch live video and audio coverge on the official site. Then again it will take ages to dry because to the rain and it isn't as humid as it was at Indy. I reckon it'll take hours.

Coverage is still running on ESPN International in New Zealand.
Quite interesting that New Zealand probably gets the best (read most uninterrupted) IndyCar coverage anywhere in the world... if you have satellite that is. Bit of a shame, I was looking forward to a good lunchtime Sunday race to watch... |

So is this going to be on Sky Sports then or is it lost?

Sky Sports has several replays of a race that hasn't happened scheduled today. They haven't updated the schedules yet, but you'd think they'd be able to work it out in a shuffle.

If I'm correct IRL has been visiting Nashville since 2001 and this will be the first day race there. Lets hope for a good race that will see the championship tighten. On the short ovals Dario dominated so far, maybe he can make another trip to victory lane.

Yep, another great result of Scott. This is the best form he's been in for a long time - and has finally got luck on his side as well. Hope it holds for 6 more races.
Most of the race excitement came from backmarkers getting in the way, although moment of the race has to be the 3 wide pass for the lead - Dixon coming from 3rd and Dario stuck in Ganassi sandwich. Well done Danica as well for another podium. Wheldon and Kanaan fall 100 points behind the lead now. At what point will they start supporting their teammates? (Wheldon already seems to be getting the Barrichello quality pitstops). |

Although I've noticed we've started getting an Australian Sportscenter now, so we must be on the same feed as you guys. |

Yeah. We are actually getting like 70% Of the US programming, plus Soccernet Press Pass and our own SportsCenter (which is pretty good in some ways...but bad in others. Much prefer the US one... )

Top effort Scott. Made it look effortless out in front today.
And we've got a few road courses coming up; Dixon should be at the pointy end at the finish. Danicas comments were a bit petulant after the race had finished; who was she trying to prove a point to.? |

I couldn't see Franchitti allowing her past him and quite frankly she was fortunate not to be passed by Hornish herself. |
