1 off F2 cars
what about the 1 off f2 cars
like Boxer Scott Minos what happened to them /where are they now?? in museums? broken up to build special saloons hillclimb specials:confused: crashed and scrapped? well if we cant find them at least we can rattle off a few more names and add in any anecdotes to keep some of you guys from the pub or a good excuse to not talk to the wife or a few hours! |

I recall an article written in motorsport last year mentioned the Boxer and the car may be restored soon
i will look to read it again if i can find the copy |

The Minos/Birrana came back to Australia at the end of 1975 , we did discuss this on the Birrana thread . The car was sold to a Western Ausralian driver Bill Downey and he had a huge accident in the car and it was destroyed. The Boxer was a good looking gadget, always wondered about that cars fate myself. Bryan. |

In one of the other F2-related threads, I think it was noted that one of the Boxers was retained by Brian lewis, and being restored - whether he's actually involved I don't know (or can't remember without using the Search button)

The MS article dw refers to implied that Brian Lewis has at least 1 of the Boxers, maybe both, and that he fancied restoring it and getting it out again. I think 2 were made, they raced in FAt and G8 over here in 76, then in EuroF2, and occasional Aurora races 77-78. Max Harvey then had one on the hills in 79, don't think they got out much after then.
The Scott was used by Warren Booth (who a good friend of mine knows well and threatens to get me in touch with !) from about 76-78, then by someone called Neville Robinson, each of them 'up-North' in 79. Again don't know afterwards. |

would like to know more of scott f2 where abouts
by chance had dealings with 3 guys (all seperate entities these days) for cars n parts but all had worked on the car in its day 1 guy mentioned he was the goffer and now has a proper job outside motorsport the others are still in racing world i found old AS article on the car and they are mentioned so i sent them copies the pixel KB are too large to add to this thread for u guys to see |

What about the Sanas dw, do you know of their wherabouts at all, one became the Barton JTB3. A little more modern, anyone know about the various Tiga F2/FAt cars ?

i know where the tiga 1980 crashed tub is sitting
sana was floating around recently cant think where i saw it mentioned in a race result or for sale ad i will not loose sleep over it though cos someone else will pipe up with more accurate info- after all is that not what this thing is all about!! |

Allen, think the 1980 Tiga CanAm was based around a similar tub to the one that crashed with Burger in 80, but not the same one. As I recall 2 Tiga FAts were raced in UK, 2 for Costanzo in Oz, maybe one other in Far East. None that I recall in US. Also what about the F3 Tiga Weaver raced here in late 81??

There were two Tiga Atlantics for sale in the US/Canada last year and a third rolling tub/project at racecars.com.
One of the complete cars is now for sale in Australia. |

I'm not exactly sure if this is fact but I believe Palliser build or modified a Formula Atl. car or two that ran in F2. I'm still trying collect a better picture of Palliser Racing Design of London and what all they built in the late 60's & early 70's before they closed their doors. To make it a little more confusing, Roy Winkelmann ran a F2 team back then with a Brabham and J. Rindt driving and Rob Winkelmann (in California) was one of the principals with Palliser along with Len Wimhurst and Hugh Dibley. I've no idea if the two were related or only shared the same surname.

I saw a Palliser in Switzerland last week, not sure if it was a F2 car but it has an odd chassis number, not the same as the FF's. The chassis number on it is RM42-2

Let's start with an early one....
1960 Laystall-Climax Does the Japanese Nova 532 of 1978 count? What about the 1975 Safir RJ03? and finally there are Mike Pilbeam's designs: a) Wheatcroft R18 b) Wheatcroft MP26 c) Pilbeam MP42 That should start a few new hares running! |

the last wheatcroft is kicking around in races i last saw it it 94
the pilbeam is i think sprinting was the safir also f3 car as well? |

I think the Wheaty R18 went to ZA for F At there, with a few others too. The R26 I never heard anything about after 1976-77. The MP42 went climbing with David Harris (?) after its F2 year in 1979, did Griffiths have it also later on ?? The Safir we've discussed before on here, it was really a 1973 Motul M1 I believe.
While we're in this area, anyone know about the Argo Atlantics. The Gorne car was I think destroyed, but how about the Rackham/Nugent JM5, and the 2 JM9s, ex Goodwin and Tyrrell Arnold ???? |

There was a Safir F2 (based on an unraced ex-Motul chassis) but the first RJ03 F3 (of which there were either 2 or 3) was originally a Delta I think.
Not sure we went through this here, but we had a go at it on TNF at while ago. |

I see this thread is over a year old but I thought I would add a few notes on Argo atlantic cars. The Rick Gorne car was a converted F3 called a JM1X. The Mike Nugent car was a 1980 JM8 and is in the Seattle, WA. U.S.A. area.It is rumored to have been in a shop fire with partial damage.We imported JM9-056-FA to the U.S. in about 1982. The car was sold and went to B.C. Canada was raced then the suspension was used for an autox special and the gearbox,adapter and tubs (yes 2, one was a used F3) went to Tennesee U.S.A. I was told there was also a JM9 in Australia. We also owned JM11-065-FA which was rebuilt as a sports racer using JM21 bodywork after an extensive accident.The last I heard that car is in Florida.The gem though is our JM5-036-FA which we purchased from Dave Rackham in 1980. I won the first SCCA national it was entered in which we think was the first for an ARGO atlantic.In recent years we have run the car in some vintage events and also against current Swifts and Ralts in SCCA nationals when the Reynard hasn't been ready.Like the comment about the RT1 the 5 is a great car to drive.I think there is also in the Seattle area another JM11 built as a super V converted to atlantic before it left the factory,a JM4 type SV and a ff2000. I just got to thinking that the JM5 could be the only operational true ARGO atlantic car in North America, maybe the world?

The Scott F2 mentioned last year in this thread is alive, if not quite kicking. It is in safe hands and being slowly rebuilt in England.
