For those out there who consistently complain about not knowing who Greg Ray is, here are the highlights of his short career in racing.

1992 Amateur F2000 Championship - 9 race wins, 10 poles, and 10 fast race laps. Voted Rookie of the Year.

1992 Professional F2000 Championship - 1 race win, 7 podium finishes in 8 races, 1 pole position, and 5 fast race laps. Voted Rookie of the Year.

1993 Toyota Atlantic Championship was won with 7 straight wins, 7 pole positions,7 fast race laps and 7 new track records. Mark Donahue Award Winner.

1994 The Players Toyota Atlantic Championship slipped through Greg Ray and Genoa Racing's hands by a slim 8pts. The season was highlighted by 4 race wins, 6 pole positions, 8 fast race laps, and most laps led. Winner of Michael Rosen Trophy and voted unanimously: Most Aggressive Driver.

1996 Drove Indy lights for Team Kool Green. Consistently a top 10 finisher. 2nd place finish at Milwaukee Mile, and three fast race laps during the season. Greg was second in most race laps completed

1997 Indianapolis 500 - First time in an Indy car, Greg was consistently in the top 5 speed charts the entire month of May. Greg was awarded most consistent qualifier of all 35 drivers. Mechanical problems caused last day qualifying. Drove from 30th qualifying position to 10th place lapping faster than the leaders before the water pump sidelined an awesome rookie team.

1999 Indy Racing League Champion.

Greg lives in Plano, Texas, a suburb north of Dallas, and owns one of the largest charter marine services and Yacht sales businesses in America. He started his racing career at the age of 25, just 8 years ago. He tried for two consecutive years to break into CART but was overlooked in favor of drivers capable of paying for their ride. It comes as no surpirse that the IRL is so popular at Texas Motor Speedway. This guy should most likely be racing in CART instead of the IRL.

This must be the SCCA Amatuer championship as Emp won the Pro series that year.
