redback should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I heard a rumor today that Besnard is to get the Havoline Ford next year and Longhurst will replace Baird in the Pirtek car. Anyone else heard this?

I've heard from a fairly good source (although it was a week ago, and that is a long time...) but Longhurst will "retire" and Besnard will get his seat...we just need someone to give Craig a swift kick in the pants and make him decide where he wants to go so we can sort this mess out...

I've been reading the motorsport rags today. Ingall reckons the Lowndes thing is a publicity stunt and the general rumor is that he will go to the Kmart team. I hope not because I think Richo and Murph make a good team and have done a lot to get the package back up the front. I'd hate to see either of them get the flick, especially Murph because he lost out last time with HRT.

I find it hard to rate drivers from Formula Holden because the competition is just not there. Don't get me wrong I know there are a FEW good ones but I haven't seen the cars thrown around like Bright and Bargs did for a while now.

I'd rather see Ambrose in the Pirtek Ford if nothing is happening for him overseas.

Gee thanks gomick

oh you meant Marcos Ambrose

I like this idea of a V8 supercar silly season it is very interesting. I was thinking that besnard would get the pirtek car and longhurst will stay where he is ..but if he retires (not sure how true that is) Besnard would definately get the havoline car and the pirtek car will go to .......heck I dont know ...crusty the clown perhaps ????

So what's the situation with Craig Baird ? Was his contract only for this year ? I don't know what racing background Baird came from but he really has been a let down in the Pirtek car which was one of the most competitive Fords last year in the hands of Jason Bright.

It's a real shame that someone like Ellery didn't get the Pirtek Falcon seat as all Baird has seemed to do is squawk all year that he dosen't know the tracks.

Sure he did well at Phillip Island but since then ?

Baird raced in NZ for many years, before becoming BMW Oz gun test driver, and occasional 3rd driver, and he won Bathurst on his own, but doing that is illegal, so he was diqualified. He then went to GB for a year to race for the factory Mondeo team, but that turn out to be a lemon. So he retired. Came out of retirement last year for the enduros, then got the full time gig.

Ellery to Pirtek: I dont think so. He owns his own team, and nothing has changed in the last 24 months, just that they have SuperCheap sponsorship now.

Baird has always drievn exceptionally well in small/medium sized cars with 200-300 hp. This is his first go in a big heavy car with 600hp and he has clearly struggled. Maybe he should go back to little cars, but what racing is there for them. None in Australasia and Europe's looking pretty shaky too.
