selling a trailer

I am looking to sell my 18 month old double (2 car) Brian James trailer, any views as to a good website to sell it on?

Try ebay Simon. I've bought and sold on both with no problems. Stick in a sensible reserve to get people bidding and give as much technical/physical info as poss. Be prepared for some bloody stupid emails though!

racecar.com is one place for a specialist interest.

eBay is the one with the coverage.
I have used ebay for years and am an experienced campaigner.
I always do the following-

A well worded ad with all the relevant info in the title.
No reserve.
Low start price.
As much detail as possible in the space alloted.
Some good pictures with one main large one and some others showing particular points of interest.

Be honest with the description. People respect that making them more likely to buy.

I say No Reserve and I will explain.
a)It is cheaper to place advert
b)It entices people to make a bid early. Activity breeds activity and the whole thing propagates.
c)If the item is woefully short of what you would consider a decent reserve price before 12 hours to Auction Closing, remove the lot.
All you lose then is the listing fee.
And you will know that it is either overpriced, the people of eBay didn't want a racecar trailer or it was a bad day.

Just sold my motorhome on eBay... got precisely £40 less for it than I paid for it three years ago... and when you take into account the guy collected it with an empty fuel tank I just about broke even despite having thrashing the thing senseless for three years!!! I was totally honest with the description and listed the faults and I actually think that got me a much better price than if I'd not mentioned them. Well worth a try anyway - digital camera and twenty minutes is all it takes... try it!

I looked at Ebay - and my only concern was that the trailers all seemed quite cheap ones - this is being advertised at £4500 (that is what Brian James told me to put it on for - I paid just under £6000 18 months ago so maybe I should stick to motorhomes - or get Craig to deal for me !!)
I have tried racecarsdirect.com and will try racecar.com, thanks for the help

Well it is quick, easy and cheap... so well worth a shot I'd think? Just put a decent start price on it (I added a 'buy it now' price of 8.5k so it hinted at it being worth more than what it really was...) If it doesn't sell you've wasted a half hour and a couple of quid... if it does you're quids in. Wonder if the lack of decent quality trailers on that site means people are not looking there for them - doubt it.

You don't get many decent quality trailers come up for sale, especialy Brian James. People tend to hang on to them. I ended up buying a new one as the second hand prices were just as high as new.

that was my problem, I had Brian James make it for the start of last season, its frustrating as there is a specific truck I want which I missed 2 years ago when the current owners beat me to it but I have to sell the trailer and my Mitsibushi Animal before I can deal.... I have at least now taken the digi shots so I can make an ebay and others proper advert!
