I can't help with your parts request but surely someone here can.

Part worn tyres are fairly easy to come by. F3 teams use avons by the bucket load and we (Formula Renault teams) use Michelins by the heap. If your not fussy you can get them for £100/set.

Our tyres are as shown here:
http://rpdmotorsport.com/car.php That translates to 6.2" wide front and 9" rear, both on a 13" rim. The diam is in metric, 530mm front and 570 rear, roughly 20.8" front and 22.4" rear. If your not really fussy about your ecact ratios then minor diff is no problem so long as you maintain the same rake angle. For 'softness' you can get a cheap durometer. Bear in mind tyres produce grip by both friction and adhesion - duromiters and rubber 'softness' is only a mesure of the frictional component (about 40% of a slicks ability) and the compound defines the adhesion. The Avons I expect you have are soft, but when a month old are only 50% the tyre they were new. Age is a massive factor, much bigger than wear - why we only fit tyres for quali or testing that are less than 3 days from the factory. If you want to talk about new/part worn tyres email me on: enquiries@rpdmotorsport.com |
