World Champion for 2004
It appears no-one has asked this question yet. Who will be the F1 WC in 2004?

Schumi is the one to beat and the only contender if Mclaren get it right next year is Kimi, who will get better and better

Williams have messed up badly this season, but theyve proved that their speed is amazing, so I wouldn't be surprised if the next champion wears overalls in blue and white....
My guess is on Montoya Last edited by Blue-eyed Devil; 15 Oct 2003 at 21:18. |

Favourite for me has to be Schumacher again, but he isn't a clear favourite. Without putting odds on it here are the order of the favourites:
M Schumacher J Montoya K Raikkonen R Schumacher (who I think should be on the list) R Barrichello (ditto, but less so) D Coulthard F Alonso... not much change, but then the question has been posed less than four days after the 2003 title decider. In my list I think the top four are very close. Again! Last edited by Adam43; 15 Oct 2003 at 21:53. |

Renault will have a storming 2nd half of the season, and Alonso will wrap up the title with 1 race to go.

Well Montoya is obviously too hot headed and Ralf is too cautious for either of them to win the WDC. My guess is Frank puts his thinking cap on and gets a driver with loads of experience and combines the best attributes of both Montoya and Ralf...that's right Jacques Villeneuve 2004 WDC!!! (I'll never give up you know )

Doesn't it seem sad that drivers like Fisichella, Coultard, Barrichello, and Ralf all have secure seats in F1, despite having had race winning cars for many more seasons than Jacques, yet failing to chalk up as many wins as he (let alone a WDC) that it is Jacques who doesn't have a drive in F1??? Sad indeed. |

WDC for 2004?
Its too early, isn't? I will wait until next testing pre-season is over. But, as Williams fans, my money is for the Colombian. |

Kimi will do it. Look how close he got this year, give him a shiny new McLaren and he'll do it.

Ralf......
.....I think Williams BMW have the momentum, and if he can stop making silly mistakes that littered his final few '03 races (Hock, Hungary,USA, Japan) , both the one-lap qualifying system and the current points system give him an advantage over his otherwise equally matched teammate |

I'm confident that Mike Gascoyne will make Toyota improve considerably their competitiveness, particularly in the second half of the season, which should/could mess the title fight up; wouldn't that bad!
About title favourites, well Ferrari still have to be on pole position, and since no competition there, verybody knowswhat i mean.. MACS: a new car, at last? the result of a winter work at Woking is the most difficult prediction to do; will they be more conservative, to avoid Mp04-18 fiasco? Or will they consolidate the unaccomplished project and take advantage of a year of (though unsuccessful) testing? Williams: no problem about sorting a fats car, i guess; as we all know problems are elsewhere, particularly team behaviour in the crucial moments of the season: will they take profit of experience? Dunno... Having put old Frankie aside doesn't seem to me a good move, but you never know. |

Agreed ST. In fact when you look at his performance this year compared to a certain other ex Cart Champ who has been hyped to the hilt, I believe he has made a great impression.
Indeed I was cynical to begin with but we could be looking at a rare talent. |
