Current version of the Blue Book (J.5.2) states:
The minimum size for any flag (other than the Starter's Flag) is 30 in x 42 in). (N.B. International Regulations require the Red flag to be 80 cm x 100 cm minimum). Nice to see that we are still using non-metric sizes!! Hope this is of help. |

Chequered Size
Well at my last meeting I was on Start/Finish and what really annoyed me was that the Chequered was smaller than our normal flags and also made of some poncy diaphaneous (sp?)material that tended to float around in the air!

I could just imagine some of the top formulas taking flag size up as issue if they were at risk of being penalised for overtaking under the yellow. I can hear it now 'I didn't see it because it was 1mm too small!) - and I can see them getting away with the offence, too!
I would always use the circuit supplied flags - that way, the circuit, rather than me personally, can take the flack if there's a problem with them. Last edited by Tracey; 7 Apr 2004 at 12:34. |

There used to be a fabulous blue at Doningtonon about post 20. Sort of duvet cover on a square caber. If you actually managed enough effort to wave it, there was no way a driver would miss it. I don't mean seeing it, he'd have had to drive around it.
