F3 teams dump Ford engine

According to Motorsport News

Duma and Motaworld have dumped the Swindon-Ford F3 engine after only one race. Both teams will run with Mugen-Honda engines at Donington.

Both team bosses said they couldn't afford to run around at the back whilst Swindon developed the engine. Motaworld have already lost Carl Breeze, and are only aiming for a single car entry for Tom Sisley at Donington.

Pete Berry of Duma said that Swindon's develpment plans were mid to long term, which commercially they couldn't live with.

Alan Waite of Motaworld admitted they may have deceived themselves by not testing at a FOTA test.

Curously the engine seemed quicker in the old Dallara chassis and on the Dyno than in the 2002 car.

Swindon are still looking for a team to develop the engine with them.

They should have raced the dyno instead of the 2002 car then.

We have tried to get a hold of this engine to use in the Oz F3 championship but were stonewalled by Ford themselves. We were rold that FFord was the main open wheeler focus in Australia for them and they weren't interested in F# at all!!
The deal made sense to us at the time. We have an experienced team (the engineer has 2 Oz F3 cahmps under his belt) and good developmental drivers. Why not try it out down here away from prying eyes.

Mr Squiggle, give Swindon a call and ask. Its not an official Ford project, they haven't put a penny into it so it should be down to Swindon who they supply.
