"Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello confirmed as drivers (but Luca Badoer is still uncertain if to stay) the 2001 season will be definitely the last one of the Schumacher age, begun in 1996.
It isn't a secret. Michael will drive in F1 no longer than 2001. A few days ago talking about Michael as "professional father" T-C wasn't joking. The words of Rubens Barrichello as "I'm the future of Ferrari" weren't a simple phrase but a statement. Michael will quit, likely after two world championships won with Ferrari and all the glory coming from these successes. And if the deadline of November 2001 at the moment seems far, not so far are the contemporary departures of Ross Brawn and Rory Byrne. Both the columns of Ferrari will leave at the same time as Michael as natural end of that successful cycle started in 1996. Ross Brawn has already given his promise to Jaguar while Byrne has only delayed to November 2001 for his departure from F1."....................Tifosi Club. ...let it roll baby roll... |

You are right Downforce !
In an short interview for the TV after Canada, RB said "I like the moment I am living with the team... That is why I respected what they told me to do today. Michael is the present, and I am the future." |

So if Rubino takes on the role of No.1 in 2002, as he expects, who will be in the No.2 seat???

Sorry but I can't see that happening. He is under contract until the end of 2002 and if is gonna leave Ferrari or retire IMO that is the time.

I dont think that Rubens has what it take to be a team leader for Ferrari, i like him he is in my top 5 favorite drivers. The only one i caan see leading Ferrari, besides TGF is some one like JV.

Trulli
Trulli will be the No. 2 pilote. For one year. Then he will be the No. 1 pilote. A fast Italian boy in a Red Car - what is that but Tifosi Heaven?

Umm, yes, it is rather sad. I wish very much that he'd take on a fresh challenge after 2001 but I don't think it will happen-look at the last three seasons-must be frustrating, almost there and always something happens. But then again frustration is much better fuel than satisfaction-look at Hakkinen. If Schuey wins two WDC what's next? What's the incentive? Fangio?
By the way, is it just a figment of my hopeful imagination or did he mention in some interview (last season) that he'll not think about retiring until 2003, or was it 2005? I'm positive that he'd like to retire on a high note though (possibly as a WDC) so maybe even if he wins those two titles he'll take a short brake and then come again for a season or two in the top team. |

What about the prospect of MS joining Ross Brawn at Renault (Benetton) for 2002??

Well, there was a rumour connecting Benetton and MS, someone even saw Wili Weber talking to FB, but he stated the talk was of Ralfie's future. There's definitely smoke here, we'll see if any fire emerges. Anyway, I though Brawn was in talks with Jaguar, not Benetton. Mind you, now that Flav is back, ANYTHING is possible!

Personally I'd like to see the triumphant return of Mimmo Schiaterrella in a Ferrari.
