What do you think of the new engines in the BA falcons?
I recently picked up my new falcon with it's 182kw barra engine on board with the sports shift automatic
It is the best family car i have ever driven and owned. The whole package is terrific and is so fun to drive from 0 rpm right up to the cutout, especially with the auto sports shift. When i first put the boot into it, it opened my eyes up I test drove a holden for the hell of it {i was going to buy a ford anyway} i was quite disappointed with the performance compared to the ford |

It seems a pretty good motor (and whole package overall(We have a non turbo XR6) my only problem with it is it doesn't sound too healthy when it's cold, and whoops our VT with the old v6 and gearbox(not bad though, strong) It was getting a loot of heads turning when we first got it as it was one of the first delivered to the west (complete with a gap in the trim between the windcreen and dash), I don't think the material on the seats are as nice as the Commo, but that might just be an XR thing.

Let's reconvene in 5-6 years after 200,000km shall we?
IMO, I can't believe the similarities in styling between the two cars, particularly inside where the dashboard designs are so similar it's a bit eerie. Gald to see the rounded everything look of the AU has been removed as much as possible particularly around the roofline, 3/4 panels and bootlid. |

I'm happy with the XR6 Turbo. A comfortable and enjoyable car to drive.

Some times you blokes make it too easy to pick on Ford lovers. But I am going to show some restraint and say nothing

I drove a BA GTP today, I don't think I have ever driven a V8 that revs out soo quickly. Handles nicely and the brakes are bloody fantastic. Too bad a lease on one of them would cost me a mint

I had a drive of a GTP last week. Local dealer has a phantom manual as a demo. It is an awsome car, im just not sure about the 70's silver glitter seats.

the worst thing I found about it was that I couldn't find the damn traction control button. Who would have thought I would have got a Ford.......

Worst thing about the new ford V8 from a performance perspective is its very long stroke - means that it can only rev to 6000 (or thereabouts) before piston velocity calls a halt to proceedings (note that the old windsor powered one is out performing the new BA in GTP racing).
This however, makes it a great road car engine - heaps of torque on tap. For racing purposes, they'd be better off with the 4.6 Mustang motor - which can rev over 7 grand. The six cylinder engine is just great - even better than the Mitsubishi V6. The new Holden V6 will have to be really something to top it. Traction control ??whats that? ... don't you mean that pedal on the right? |

I know what you mean about the TC.
It is behind the wheel, difficult to find if you suddenly get a rush of blood to the umm, err... |
