Andy Metcalf should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
BTCC at Rockingham

When I heard that the BTCC was going to Rockingham (in place of Knockhill) I wondered what it would be like. This last weekend, manicmarshal and myself have been Marshaling at Rockingham for a BARC Club meeting. I was impressed by the circuit facilities. Disapointed that there was no toilet available on post. And enjoyed the racing.

The only down side to the weekend was when a Porsche went into the wall just past turn 4 on the oval circuit. The Porsches were treating everyone to some good racing. Coming round the banked curves they were 3 abreast at times. I could imagine the Touring cars giving a similar spectacle.

The condtion of the Porsche driver is not known to us. We hope is ok. I think he was taken to hospital after a little treatment in the Med Centre. Any news would be appreciated.

Yep.. Rockingham is a really nice place to go if you want to actually 'see' motor racing... The view from the grandstands is really quite something

As ever, all the information about Rockingham is on the website Rockingham.co.uk. ASCAR at The Rock is a good day, thing is by the looks of things they wont need many marshals as it is just on the oval. Even so, there is pleanty to do, there is live music, funfair and ofcourse the racing!!

Rockingham markets it's events as something to do for the whole family. Something that's quite different to any other venue, it can get annoying for die hard fans, but it gets in the families.

IMHO, Rockingham is the best track in the country.

As the cars hit the banking, for what will be the final corner, we will see some real action. It will also be a place where engine speed will count for half a lap, but set-up and drievr control for the other. If this isn't going to be difficult for the drivers it certainly will be for the engineers.

It will be interesting to have another new circuit on the calendar, and seeing how successful Mondello has been for the BTCC, things can only get better!

Rockingham looks rubbish. And that's official. I would much prefer the BTCC to take on some street racing. How about the Ipswich one-way system for starters. Now that would be worth watching.

Just a wild stab in the dark.... but are you from the Ipswich area by any chance?

Trust me though, Rockingham is a GOOD circuit.... good layout, good viewing and good facilities.... Silverstone take note....
