I don't get all this 'Fusion' talk about it coming to V8SC.....Seeing as the Fusion is already sold in Australia as a Mondeo.
It would have as much chance of winning a race as the current Falcon does, given the current ruleset, the bodyshape is irrelevant. |

Still if you're going to lose anyway, may as well look good while you're doing it.......from that pic it would be the best looking car on the grid.

Although its sold as Mondeo here, Ford will more than likley market it as the Fusion, or badge it as the evolution of the Falcon. Anyone had any market research calls? Since they race the Fusion in Nascar, I would hedge a bet they will do the same here.

Um, how about the Mustang instead of the Fusion/Mondeo. It has a V8, and it raced before.

The next-gen Mustang will be smaller, and it would look tiny in comparison with the Commodore and E-Class. Now, the Mustang could race against a new Holden Torana...
That Mondeo looks much racier than the current Falcon. |

Dunno that Ford will go around again. Their market is now small/medium and SUV/Light Commercial. While Toyota and Mazda have dominated vehicle sales with minimal motorsport exposure, Ford have been slow to adapt their marketing to the new era and struggle to lead any sales class.
With a full factory backed effort unable to deliver the desired results, what rationale exists to suggest a watered down effort can put them back on top. NASCAR in the US is entirely different, as the style of circuits and the money the sport has for parity enforcement means all manufacturers get a fair shake of victory lane celebrations. |

The thread is called GoodBye Falcon enter the Fusion.
That will be right for sure if FPR is involved, it will be CON FUSION. |

Well, there's some spy photos of the future Msutang, and it's roughly the same size as the current one. So yes, it more or less looks like a decent candidate to replace the Falcon at the V8 Supercars.

Is there any credible reason why the COtF has to have four doors?

The DTM and Superstars have allowed the coupe Audis, BMWs and Mercs and are no longer really touring car series some would argue.
Where the Mondeo would fit in having enough doors but also having a hatchback ??? The Volvo is built on the Mondeo platform as well so I guess anything goes these days, the more the merrier. |

Maybe it's time to change that rule.

Perhaps the COTF eligibility should be revisited for 2015/16? Why not add 2-doors to the mix?
2-doors have a big history in the ATCC, and now that GM/Ford are no longer supporting the whole show, and not keeping the likes of Toyota, Nissan etc out of the game, perhaps the disappearance of the Falcon could be the catalyst? I'd love to see the Mustang out there, perhaps with the Camaro - but the rule on commercial availablity would also need considering. I don't think the LHD conversion game would meet the "commercial availability" criteria, but you never know. |
